Shahzad’s Halal Food — Restaurant in Sayreville

Not one to review a local business poorly, but this needs to be addressed. Ordered food for my employees last week, a part of the order was two chicken over rice, with no salad or onions as one of my employees is allergic to onions. She has ordered it like that in the past and it was never a problem. When their delivery driver arrived, the driver told us that the restaurant said "we need to eat our salads and make no modifications to our orders" HOW TERRIBLE!! We got the food and there was onions the chicken bowl. They did not put the salad as requested, but they disregarded the request for no onions. When my employee went to Shahzad's to politely ask them to make her at least ONE new bowl she was greeted by a rude "employee" who we later found out is the OWNER! He told her he will not be making her a new bowl because it was delivered through a third party. She asked if there was a manager there (not knowing he was the owner) and he said he will speak to the manager process the refund. She then asked how will she know if she got the refund and he RUDELY told her she would see it on her statement. This grown man and OWNER of the business should really be ashamed at how he yelled at a young woman. He should also be ashamed at how poor his customer service is. We have a business of around 15 employees that ordered from Shazad's weekly. However due to this poor experience, we will not be ordering from here any longer. Do better, Shazad's. The food was decent. The store is very uninviting. If you went to the store, you'd think it's a food truck without the truck. It's in a physical location and has no means to allow guests to sit down and enjoy a meal. This type of restaurant may do better in the middle of a busy downtown. However this specific restaurant is not in a downtown and also not on a major highway. It should expand it's food delivery business or move to a better location.

The hours are amazing and it should really be in New Brunswick to get that student business from Rutgers.

Please try to cater food to public schools. Halal options aren't available and would be nice to have it.

UPDATED 2025 ×××××××××××× The food is worse than before. I ordered a cheese burger and they drowned the burnt meat with ketchup. The bun seemed to be the lowest quality they could find. It tasted terrible. The cashier was nice. They finally have a place to sit. Although its outdoor seating with picnic benches. I'm not sure how often they are cleaned...

Shahzad’s is hands down the best halal food spot around! I’ve tried halal food from many places, but Shahzad’s consistently stands out as my absolute favorite. The quality, flavor, and attention to detail in their dishes are truly unmatched. Every bite is a testament to their passion and dedication to serving amazing food.

What makes Shahzad’s even more special is their outstanding service. The staff is incredibly helpful, friendly, and always willing to go above and beyond to make sure customers are happy.
