Stopped by here after work on Friday (Memorial Day weekend) around 3:30 and not really much happening. I placed my order and within 15 minutes it was ready as promised. I ordered D3, a combination plate (Egg Roll, Boneless Ribs, Wings, Chicken fingers and Fried Rice for $12.50). This is pretty much what I order every time I'm in the mood for Chinese food, regardless of what Chinese Restaurant I'm at. I also ordered Pork Chop Suey during this stop. The food is not bad, however, it failed to satisfy my cravings. It just did not have the taste (flavor) I was looking for. I guess my taste buds just got spoiled by Chinese Eatery Restaurant (OOB). Unfortunately this establishment closed, much to my (and many others) disappointment. Don't get me wrong, there is absolutely nothing wrong with the food at Wing Lee, it's just a matter of personal taste and preference. This was not my first time here and I'm sure it will also not be the last.

***Edit - this review was supposed to be for Empire Chinese Kitchen in Portland, not Wing Lee*** Second time visiting. First time we had a large group (7) and did have to wait about an hour and a half. This time it was just two of us and we came early and were seated right away. Highly recommend the Duck Lo Mein, the bok choy, eggplant and bao buns. Everything we had both visits was fabulous. Great service. We will be back!

Wing Lee use to be good. Now the food went downhill. The orange chicken tasted like fishy chicken. And there was no crisp on the coating. Why coat the chicken if it’s going to be soggy? The sauce had no flavor. Barely orange. More fish saucy. And why would you put only 1 slice of broccoli? No point in that. It was never like this before. Oh well. Lesson learned, don’t buy the orange chicken. Unless you like it fishy!

We’ve been going here for a while now and I will say the food is great even after moving farther away we still make the drive here because we like it better than other Chinese places in my area however this last time I was not impressed. I placed a large order and when I got home I realized that we didn’t get our order of chicken fingers (I’ve worked in restaurants forever these things happen it’s not a big deal) so I called and explained that we didn’t receive them and they apologized and asked if we would be willing to come pick them up they’ll have them ready for us. I thanked them and started the 15-20 minute drive back and when I was almost there I get a phone call from them and the woman was very rude and was essentially yelling at me that she knows she put them in there and wasn’t taking my “no I’m sorry they weren’t” for an answer. I even called my roommates to have them double check… we did not get them. I was very pleasant but she was not at all and gave a very annoyed “yeah ok whatever” and hung up. When I got there the very sweet girl gave them to me and I was on my way but not before the woman that I assume called me gave me quite the dirty look. I’m unsure why she was mad since I was the one that had to make the extra drive back out there but I was absolutely appalled at her attitude towards me. Before today this place would get 5 stars but this experience made me want to find a different...

It made a turd! So yea, I'm not sure how this place has 4 stars. I'm pretty sure most people are either being nice or lack taste buds. I typically don't go into a ton of details, but for this one I'm making an exception. My reluctant thought right off was it's in a small plaza and looked a tad rundown. I like hole in the wall places sometimes, so I figured why not. I got D11 and wife got D18 and we were gonna share with each other. We'll start with the 2 in common items chicken fingers and the rice that comes with the dish. Sadly the chicken fingers were the best part if this experience and that's really being nice. They were marginal at best. Things just went down hill faster than a cop eating a donut. The rice had hardly any coloring (it was tan, not brownish) no vegs to mention and just 0 flavor and failed to send me to flavor town. Chicken and broccoli was OK, but had gristle and fat on the chicken, making it chewy. Broccoli 🥦 was cooked well and likely stole the show in this portion of the meal. The BBQ pork was actually kinda dry and I was sad 0 sauce on my fingers, which is a first for me. The General Chicken sauce tasted like it had some kind of fish sauce this is definitely not general tsaos. The sauce was pink and runny and tasted as I said fishy. All in all not a high...
