I visited this location on 7-1-16 for lunch after not eating at a Burger King for 6 months-year. I had a taste for it, though not sure why, and figured I would give them a shot. I actually used to work at this location back when they opened in 2000, and since I happened to be in the area I thought I'd stop in: BIG MISTAKE.
Being that I used to work here & have worked retail half my life I know what a secret shopper looks for and I observe the store. The cashier working there was a nice enough young man, but the drive thru & food prep staff were definitely not cutting it. They were slow moving, did not seem all that focused or attentive and had a chip on their shoulders. I noticed a bit of an attitude towards myself and an older man and woman (in their 50's) and that it seemed to take an almost ridiculous amount of time for our orders to be prepared. They were waiting for their food well before I ordered, which always takes me a few minutes to decide, and then a good 5 minutes after I was done. 10 minutes for just a Whopper Jr.?? The other guy apparently placed an order just like mine & that took 15 minutes, so I knew what to expect at that point. However, a pet peeve of mine is for your order to be put in ($6 for a few value menu items, not a large/$40+ order) and then have people ordering behind/after you getting their food before you. Sure enough, that's what happened.
Then the kicker: after waiting 15 minutes for my large fries no salt (That's fine), they give me a medium with what? You guessed it, salt. And it was a little more than 1/2 way filled. Good thing I checked as I was leaving the parking lot. The nuggets looked over cooked, the fries were nasty and the sandwiches I didn't even want to risk trying. When I returned the food and got my $ back I noticed what looked like maybe a store/district manager on the phone inside & looking around, then walking around outside, laughing and having a good time while his customers are receiving awful service. I believe what the other woman, and former employee, posted about this place: they very well may have some kind of racial bias and don't seem to care about anything but money. In the past if that happened and someone like the store or district manager was indeed there, they go around and ask customers about their experience, good or bad, they want feedback. This person was ignoring other people. If they see an upset customer or someone who is obviously a little irritated about their customer service it's their job to find out what's going on and what they can do to satisfy the customer, no? Instead, I saw someone who was laughing and seemed pleased...
In conclusion, I would not recommend going to this place or giving them any of your business, they don't deserve it. If you're looking for a good location the Burger King on Irving Park Road and Barrington Road in Hanover Park was always better, and I believe they're owned by people who...
Read moreI am a former employee, and I will say, DO NOT EAT HERE! Most of the burgers that come out of the boiler are half-raw, and I was forced to put them in the holding pans for serving, even though I had made constant complaints about serving raw food to guests. The food is held WAY past its holding time, half the time people do not wear gloves, and the manager has come in with a cold and blew his nose, then proceeded to hand out food and such.
It is a disgusting place, and I wouldn't feed my dog this crap. I only ate here when I made the food prior the time for my breaks and such. I tried making the food suitable for human consumption, but the manager was so stingy about money he cared more about that then serving food that wouldn't make people sick. I have already reported them to the health department, but some how they know when they have been called, and go into a frenzy to clean up before she gets there.
If you are still brave enough to eat the food, cut open the burger before you eat it to make sure it isn't raw, then when you order anything fried, make sure you order it straight out the fryer. Also, avoid mayo, mayo-based sauces, cheese, lettuce, or tomato on any of the sandwiches, and put it on when you get home. Reason is, they let that stuff sit out so long without being properly cooled, that it becomes old and sour. The mayonnaise grows a yellowish skin, and the cheese becomes curled up and dark yellow when old. The tomatoes also grow extremely slimy and disgustingly warm.
On another note, the managers and some of the employees have a distaste for anyone who is not like them, i.e. Indian, Hispanic, or from some type of foreign country. I have heard the manager many a time talk about "those damn White people", and got upset when I got another job, and said, "You want to go over there to those White people? They won't treat you better". He also made cracks about how I have a horrible attitude and that "He would not want to spend the rest of my (his) life with someone like me". Why he was even THINKING that, I do not know.
In a nutshell, do not waste your time with this place. They do not care about your food, its quality, or anything else but money. There are plenty more things I can write here, but it will be more like a novella than a review.
Happy Eating! (Anywhere But Here),
Mariah S.
P.S: On a side note, the manager tells his employees to make fake 5 Star reviews on the restaurant to make him look better. If you see any 5 star comments and the review is really short like "good food, love it here, yum", 9 times out of 10 it is an employee or the manager himself making bogus reviews, especially when the review is by "A...
Read moreVisited tonight Nov 4th with my girlfriend at 11:07 PM at the drive thru. Extremely rude and uncooperative. I simply asked for a chicken King Sandwhich Made well done and the Woman on the drive thru intercom Refused to take the order. It was nothing difficult that I was asking for. Never have I ever heard an employee at any establishment led alone a burger king say "We cannot do that because we already have sandwhiches made" I can see if I changed my order last minute or if I ordered online and they already prepared the food or if the drive thru was busy(nobody was behind or in front of us). But this was a drive thru order in an empty drive thru with no customers on the inside. For all they know I had a long was to drive for all they know I wanted it well done because I like my food extra crispy none of her business nonetheless. However employee was uncooperative and then said that they can't do it because it would be "hard"? Isn't that the point of well done fried food? Never had a issue with the well done chicken King Sandwhich so either they didn't wanna do it or they wanted to refry an already prepared patty which WOULD make it hard however they're not supposed to refry and prepared food as it would go against health codes. So much for "Have it Your way" thanks alot. Ended up going to America's favorite white castle instead of...
