Steak ’n Shake — Restaurant in Schaumburg Township

Haven’t been in the restaurant for a long time. Today may be the last time. It used to be when you walked in, a hostess greeted you and took you to a table. Those days are gone. Walked in and waited to be seated. A person, finally came to greet us and was shown to a couple of kiosks where you can place your order. Ok so far. I was having trouble figuring out how to get a dark chocolate shake. After several minutes the same person asked if I needed help. I told her I wanted the dark chocolate shake and she shook her head and said we no have that any more. She then reviewed the order and I noticed onions on my burger. I didn’t want onions. She tried to go back to toppings and wound up cancelling the order. Here we go again I had to input the order again. When we got to the drink menu, I wanted a regular chocolate shake, but it looked like they only had one size so I just ordered a soda. When we finally got the order, the top hamburger bun was ice cold like it was taken out of the fridge. Next, the bacon was so thin you could see right through it. Hamburgers were also thin. I did go back to the kiosk to order a shake, but I never saw the sizes they had. Wound up getting a huge shake. Took half home to enjoy later. I feel bad because they had no help ie. Waitresses or busboys. They used to have really sweet people working there, now only 3 people are needed… a cook, a person to take drive threw orders and one more (dk what she did). Sorry but you lost a customer. One more thing… there were about 8 teenagers in the restaurant yelling so loud, no wonder there were no other adults eating in the restaurant. Plus they had the soda machine LOCKED UP! And no utensils were to be found. Had to go to the counter and request napkins,...

So everything was fine and I always go to this steak n shake till now.... they gave me the wrong order, so naturally I thought they would let me keep the order they gave me (I drove away with, and looked inside to check food) during a pandemic they would throw it away but no.... they took the bag from me and put back on the counter to give to the person. They never replaced the food they didn't even check to make sure all the food was given back to them. Back on the counter with all other food being preped. While I was waiting for my food I couldn't help but think that's so gross, unsanitary, and during a pandemic how do you know I didn't have covid or any other sickness.. how do you know I didn't sneeze ( which I'm not sick or didn't doo anything with the food) but what if. Those poor people who received that same food don't know they never made there order over. They kept what I gave back to them. It makes you wander how many times that has happen. Neatness to say I grabbed My 42 worth of food for my family and threw it away cus how do I know someone else didn't drive away and bring back my food... I'll be contacting manager tomorrow for a refund! And they lost...

It was homecoming night for two schools in the area, and about 20 people from each school came in to the restaurants sporadically throughout the night. There was only one waitress and they refused to as much as seat people if their party was over two people. Luckily it was just my date and me so we were seated after five minutes. After we sat, it took about an hour for the waitress to come to our table. When she did, she gave us a pen and a notepad and had us write down our order. She then came back and picked it up around ten minutes later. We received our food and a shake fairly quickly after “ordering”, but it was mediocre at best. At this point, we had yet to receive any water; we had to ask for it. It took her about five minutes just to bring that out. I understand it was slightly busy, but they were severely understaffed, and the staff they did have was...
