Victoria was our server tonight. A genuinely pleasant, attentive, caring employee. She made sure we were well informed prior to ordering and helped with any possible questions. (Such as if the banana milk was Milkis or not for allergy reasons) She was willing to cook and show us the proper way to handle everything with the gas grill prior to learning that we have frequented various kbbq locations. If i could grade her out of 10, she would definitely get a 12!!! Now the food varieties were also very tasty. I loved the bonchon selection. We ordered the Taste of Seoul combo menu and added the Australian Waygu as a birthday treat. The combos come with either a kimchi or soy bean soup. We ordered one of each between the two of us to see which we preferred. Soy bean is a perfect homey soup for winter, while the kimchi soup provides the perfect kick. The mandu and seafood pancake were a great opener also to prepare for the meat feast ahead. The first meat was the bulgogi. It was the perfect level of sweet, savory and I loved the fresh green onion included. The marinated boneless galbi was next. When I tell you this was so tender that I was having the explosions in my head like in Ratatouille, I'm not even joking about the greatness! It was my favorite option of the night because of how juicy and tender it was with so much flavor. After the galbi, was the waygu. Made sure to keep a chunk of fat to add for flavor later, (we included it in the kimchi fried rice). The Waygu was my fiancé's favorite. The galbi chicken was very flavorful and succulent. The pork belly was cooked on the same pan as the fried rice so that the pork fat would be included. I saved some pork belly to include with the rice. The kimchi fried rice ended the meal and utilized a great sauce to balance the flavor.
Overall, very happy with the meal and experience tonight! I am happy that they are finally open and I know we are going to be returning. I'm also telling everyone about this place because the quality food and experience knock it out...
Read moreIf you're chasing real Korean BBQ — the kind that sizzles with soul, smoke, and tradition — let me save you the trouble: this place isn’t it. Not even close. It’s a parody of the real thing, and not the funny kind. More like a bad impersonation that makes you a little sad inside.
I’m Korean. Grew up on this stuff. So when the banchan hit the table — a paltry trio of overfermented kimchi, bean sprouts, and, of all things, limp broccoli — my gut knew. My Korean alarm bells went off like a goddamn fire drill.
No salad. No real spread. Just the bare minimum, like they’d Googled “Korean side dishes” five minutes before opening and called it a day.
Then came the soybean soup — or whatever that watery, sweet, half-filled bowl was supposed to be. Missing the basics: no tofu, no green peppers, no onions. It tasted like someone added sugar and prayed no one would notice. I noticed.
And the meat — which is supposed to be the star, the reason you’re here, the thing that should sizzle and glisten with fat and promise — was a letdown. Low quality, bland, unworthy of the grill it was served on. There was no pride in it. No heritage. Just meat, for the sake of having meat.
Places like this do more harm than good. They sell a version of Korean cuisine that’s gutted, flavorless, hollow. It’s not just bad — it’s disrespectful.
Do yourself a favor. Hit up Ktown 92. Go to Koreana. Go anywhere else. Somewhere that understands what this food means, and how it’s supposed to make you feel.
Because this? This isn’t Korean BBQ. It’s a bad dream served on...
Read moreGangnam Korean BBQ is a fantastic spot for a date night or group dinner with friends. My fiancée and I went here for the first time today. We were stunned by all the beautiful decor inside (it makes you feel like you really are in Gangnam).
The prices are reasonable and the service was good. We could tell that the servers were still learning, but overall, I know that they were trying their best and putting in effort. It was busy but the staff handled it well. Our waitress (I don't remember her name) was polite, friendly, personable, and attentive.
We opted for one of the three meal options were you get to try multiple different dishes for $60 (no AYCE). You get the usual little plates of kimchi, pickled radish, fish cakes, etc. The menu option we selected got us dumplings, a seafood pancake, bulgogi, galbi, steak, chicken, pork belly, and kimchi fried rice (it was a lot of food and the portions were generous, make sure you're hungry). Our meal was great and I have no complaints about taste or quality of the food.
The owner was walking around helping his staff and checking in with every table. He seemed like a nice, down-to-earth guy and thanked us for coming. It was a nice touch to our night and made us feel welcomed.
My only minor complaint would be the seating. The tables are close to each other and the chairs are a wide, so you're sitting pretty close to the people behind you. It didn't bother me or mess with my experience at all though.
Otherwise, we had a great time and will be...
