My first time ever trying Chicago Deep Dish pizza was at this Lou Malnati’s about 15 years ago… Ever since then, it’s been a fav of mine. I love it so much, me and my family regularly orders their pizza from Taste of Chicago and always keep some in the freezer. So, whenever I’m visiting this part of Chicagoland I make a point of coming back to this location, as I did tonight. I sat at the bar, getting there a little bit before their busy period. I got there a little after 6PM, but by the time I left, there were packed. Service was decent. Tonight I ordered a small deep dish with pepperoni, jalapeños, and extra tomato sauce. It took the typical time of about 40 mins to come out, so I got their smallest salad to nosh on while I waited. Regarding their small salad, it’s pretty big! Definitely shareable! The pizza came out piping hot and looking beautiful! I ordered a small, but probably should’ve gotten a personal size, because two slices of the small was all I needed and I was full! The topping were tasty and the peppers were spicy. Tomato sauce is excellent too! Love their crust as well. Definitely an amazing pizza… One of my favs anywhere and I also really love NY style. So, don’t compare this to the NY style you might like, they’re not nearly in the same category. Rather enjoy both for what they are.

This rating is ONLY for the deep dish Buffa-Lou pizza. We tried the large deep dish Buffa-Lou Pizza as we saw it advertised. We were really looking forward to it as it looked really good. I called my order in and Ryan was super nice, helpful and took time to answer questions as we wanted our pizza on the well done side. The pizza during pickup smelled amazing! We absolutely loved the crust and there was a generous portion of chicken and cheese blend evenly distributed all over the pizza. The flavor of the buffalo sauce had a good flavor as it was tangy and not hot. The 2 drawbacks were that the buffalo sauce was not IN the chicken. It was ON the pizza which really didn't work for us. It was like plain chicken breast chunks separate from the sauce. The orange sauce was all over our plates and hands. The flavor was there but the way they put this together wasn't to our liking. Secondly, the top of the pizza had a slick film of oil (probably from the cheese?). I applaud them for offering something new but think the deep dish Buffa-Lou pizza missed the mark. I wouldn't order it again and probably wouldn't try any "limited edition" flavors. Their regular topping offerings on thier pizza's are really good!

Quality, Authentic Chicago-style Food! For lunch I started with the loaded baked potato soup that was suggested to me. Pretty standard from what I’ve had at other restaurants, a bit smoother of a consistency than I would’ve liked, but still had a great overall taste. The huge prepackaged bread bowl was a nice touch as well. I would always prefer actual bread, but that’s also just me being picky. For my entree, I had the single-serving Chicago Classic. Overall, okay. I feel as though I’ve had better deep dish at more authentic places, but for a chain this sufficed. Sauce was a bit runnier than I would have hoped that was causing the crust to be soggy and hard to cut with a fork and knife. For dessert I had the Cannoli Dip. So good! I’m sure my non-Italian blood was tricked into the authentic look, but my taste buds surely didn’t care. Atmosphere was good. However, I’m not too picky when it comes to this feature as long as the food is good, place is clean, and there are no horrifying smells it gets a 10/10. I will say the loads of natural light was a great touch. Staff was excellent! Very kind and fast service. S/O to Rebecca B. for this high quality experience. Overall, a satisfying lunch.

Lou Malnati's Pizzeria in Schaumburg is a pizza lover's dream come true! Nestled in the heart of Schaumburg, this renowned establishment brings the authentic taste of Chicago deep-dish pizza to perfection. Every visit to Lou Malnati's is an unforgettable experience that leaves me craving for more.

The moment you step inside, you're greeted with a warm and welcoming atmosphere. The staff is friendly, attentive, and always ready to assist you in making the perfect pizza selection. Whether you're a local or a visitor, the hospitality at Lou Malnati's makes you feel right at home.

Now, let's talk about the star of the show—the pizza! Lou Malnati's is synonymous with deep-dish pizza, and they truly live up to their reputation. The crust, buttery and flaky, forms a sturdy base that perfectly balances the generous layers of high-quality cheese, zesty tomato sauce, and an array of delectable toppings. Each bite is a harmonious symphony of flavors that will leave your taste buds dancing with joy.

One of my personal favorites is the Malnati Chicago Classic. The combination of the tangy tomato sauce, gooey mozzarella cheese, savory sausage, and perfectly caramelized crust is simply irresistible. The attention to detail and the commitment to using the finest ingredients shine through in every bite.

Aside from their remarkable deep-dish pizzas, Lou Malnati's also offers a variety of other menu options. Their salads, appetizers, and pasta dishes are equally impressive and provide a delightful accompaniment to your pizza feast. Don't forget to try their famous buttery garlic breadsticks—they are absolute perfection!

Lou Malnati's commitment to quality extends to their exceptional customer service. Whether you're dining in, ordering takeout, or opting for delivery, the team ensures that your experience is seamless and enjoyable from start to finish. They go above and beyond to accommodate special requests and make sure every customer leaves satisfied.

As a testament to their popularity, Lou Malnati's can get quite busy, especially during peak hours. However, the wait is always worth it. I recommend making a reservation or placing your order in advance to ensure a smooth dining experience.

In conclusion, Lou Malnati's Pizzeria in Schaumburg is a pizza lover's paradise. With their irresistible deep-dish creations, friendly staff, and commitment to excellence, they have rightfully earned their place as a culinary icon in the Chicago area. If you're looking for an authentic taste of Chicago's famous deep-dish pizza, Lou Malnati's is the place to be. Prepare to indulge in pizza perfection that will keep you coming back for more!

I'm from California, so please keep that in mind. I'll cut right to the chase: the food.

  1. The signature deep dish pizza is not what I expected. The crust had very little salt (if any) and was quite hard to cut. This may be par for the course. The doughiness of the upper crust is nice. The cheese is more substantial than what I've had before and I really liked it. It's chewier. The sauce is delicious. Easily the best part of the pie.

I tried the pepperoni and the Classic. The pepperoni was the better of the two in my opinion. The pepperoni doesn't get crispy, however. The Classic was not my cup of tea. They use a sausage layer instead of slices or crumbles. Either would be preferable, but failing to do so results in just too much sausage. At least it's very lean.

On a scale of 1 to 10, I have to give them pizza an 8. I've had deep dish in California (most definitely not authentic) that has a better tasting crust and a better implement of the sausage.

  1. Manalti's Salad. Although it was very good, the dressing is a bit too sweet. Just a bit. Everything else is perfect: the portion, the ingredient ratio, the presentation, the preparation, the freshness. It's a chopped and tossed salad and they've nailed the execution.

On a scale of 1 to 10, the salad is a 9 or 9.5. it's that good.

Should you try this place? I dunno. I'm not properly educated in Chicago Deep Dish. Maybe this place is off, maybe others establishments do a better version. For me, I would not return to this specific restaurant, but I might try another...

I asked for a quiet table away from the crowds. The hostess sat me upstairs across from a table of 14 screaming women who appeared to be celebrating a wedding shower or something. The other part of the upstairs dining area had only three or four tables filled with either couples or a party of four - all of whom were quietly dining (I hadn’t bothered to look before I ordered). Since I had already ordered I felt it wasn’t right to move. I figured I’d just bear through it. Right after ordering the hostess brings up another party of a married couple with two very young children - and proceeds to seat them in the next booth from us even though others were open. Sure enough the older of the two (still very young) starts to scream and cry for what seemed like an eternity. Between the kid and the table of women I felt like I was in some sort of maniac ward. My wife and I looked at each other and I thought “it’s almost as though the hostess did the exact OPPOSITE of what I’d requested”. All she had to do when we got there was seat us on the other side of the room where there was clearly no circus or screaming going on. I’ll take the blame for not wanting to annoy our server who’d already started helping us. The saving grace was the food. As always I can count on Lou’s for a tasty, tasty meal. And the table service...
