Worst restaurant experience ever!
Came here on Saturday night for dinner and waited over an hour to get seated. Given its a new place we were really excited to try it out. When we were finally seated it was at a table in the middle of the isle, so every time a waiter or guest walked passed they would brush against us or have their behind in our faces...so right off the bat we were uncomfortable but decided not to complain as they were busy. Next, the waiter comes to take the order and more than half the menu was “sold out / unavailable.” Literally all of the good options were unavailable...i wish someone mentioned this while we waited over an hour to sit...anyways we ordered whatever was left and eagerly awaited our food. The appetizers came out in about 10-15 minutes. The crispy wontons were completely bland and had no seasoning or flavor. After appetizers, we waited an additional hour for our entrees and during this time we got no indication from the staff or management that the kitchen obviously was having some issues and weren’t able to prepare the food timely. This wasn’t an issue only for us, but also for many other tables in the restaurant. The table next to us was also frustrated and wanted to leave without eating. When we asked the waiter, he said the kitchen is “running slow” and said we could cancel our order if we couldn’t wait. Since we were hungry, we said we can wait a bit longer if the food will come out soon, he went to check and then said yes it should be 5-10 more min. Within that time he came back and offered to give us to-go boxes even before the food was served. This is probably one of the strangest things I’ve ever heard at a restaurant...why are you telling me to cancel my order and giving me to go boxes before my food is even served? Do you not want us to eat at your restaurant? Why make us wait 2.5 hours to tell us to cancel or take it to go? If i wanted it to go, I would not have sat there so long! Finally, 1 of the 3 entrees we ordered comes out and it is not even what we ordered! The waiter never informed us that what we ordered was also not available and our other 2 entrees were not yet prepared! Wow! At this point after waiting 2.5 hours since we came to this restaurant, we were done. I asked for the check to pay for the appetizers we were served and leave. The waiter or management did not offer anything to make it up to us for such a bad experience and making us leave hungry. They couldn’t even offer to take care of the 2 appetizers after providing this nightmare experience. On my way out after paying, the manager / bartender stops me to ask what was wrong, as he saw we were leaving without eating, and I explained what happened. He did nothing to make it up or offer anything outside of saying “I’m sorry, its our first weekend being open.” So being a new restaurant is an excuse to provide such a terrible experience? If you are not ready to be open yet then why did you open??? You should have stayed closed until you were ready rather than start off like this. The first impression on customers is the last impression!...
Read moreI had the pleasure of wrapping up my weekend by visiting what I consider to be my best ever dining experience. I have sat in steak houses around the country. My journey for great food has led me to dine. at places where the hype did not match my expectations but yesterday was different. I was out shopping with my girlfriend in Schaumburg, IL and wanted to get something to eat but did not want the usual fare in or around the mall, so we drove around a bit and I remembered that there were a few restaurants nearby on Roselle Road. We took a few turns and viewed a number of spots that were located in that area, then we were driving by a building, and the name brought back a memory of a post from about two years ago that mentioned this restaurant. It’s name is PHAT PHAT. I put this in “caps” because it deserves it. We parked and went inside. I gentleman with a smile came up and sat us at a nice cozy table. I looked around and thought this is nice. It was well lit with an ambiance that I had not felt before. Menus were brought to the table, and they were impressive. These were like a clip board with multiple pages, not your run of the mill menu. The pictures of the food made me hungry. I asked about one dish. It was the Imperial Xiao Long Bao (soup dumplings). These had a colorful concept that distinguished the various flavors of the dish. Some examples were spicy (red), black truffle (black), orange chicken (orange). I enjoyed each one that I tried. We also ordered the garlic chicken wings, green beans, beef fried rice, nasi campur bali and fried Hong Kong mee with beef. The food looked exactly like the pictures in the menu. I tried everything on the table and not only was it good, but it went well together. I was eating a perfect meal. The different flavors blended together to the point that I forgot to drink my beverage. When I was done, I told them I was coming back soon. There are so many other dishes that I have to try. This is not a five star review because PHAT PHAT deserves more than five stars. This was the best dining experience I have ever had. That includes the building, the décor, the lighting, the music, the staff (service with a personal touch), and the food. Someone put everything together in a way that could only be called a new...
Read moreWe recently hosted a corporate event, and unfortunately, the experience was far from satisfactory. We encountered multiple issues that led us to leave early, deeply disappointed. The most concerning discovery was the evident lack of cleanliness and hygiene. There were pests in the ice, and the tea was served from a pot with a spout that had a build-up of residue, making it clear that no matter how fresh the batch, the tea would be contaminated.
When we brought this to the attention of a staff member, whose name was possibly Nellie or Nelly, she responded in a very unprofessional manner, stating that she was tired and implying that our event was more of a burden than a priority. Her attitude was rude and dismissive, leaving us feeling unwelcome.
Adding to our concerns, we later discovered a YouTube video featuring what appeared to be a staged interview with a staff member, along with footage of the team working in what seemed like poor conditions. The employees looked exhausted and overworked, which raises serious concerns about the company’s management.
To make matters worse, a man who introduced himself as the owner, possibly named Denni or Denny, gave the worst representation of the establishment. He is the same individual featured in the video, promoting a fusion of Chinese and Korean street food, which he claimed to be authentic but seemed more like an attempt to cater to Western tastes. His approach was off-putting and unprofessional.
We truly hope that this review reaches the right people who can implement the necessary changes. Hosting an event here was a regrettable decision, and we are now in the process of disputing the charges with our bank. We urge others to reconsider before booking an event at this venue to avoid the same disappointment and frustration.
Never...
