Read moreI hate that I see some people trying to review bomb this amazing place just because they can’t bring outside food. You don’t see me bringing a large pizza to an Olive Garden or Red Lobster. That’s just asinine.
With that out of the way, this was my first time trying Salvadoran cuisine. I’ve had Mexican, Puerto Rican, Venezuelan, Brazilian, Peruvian, Bolivian, and Colombian. This place is not that small, there are plenty of places to eat. I love how vibrant the inside of the restaurant looks. We ordered pupusas (pollo y queso and chicharron y queso), carne asada, mojarra frita, platanos fritos, and empanadas de platano. Overall it’s a 4.5. Service was very friendly and attentive.
-pupusas - (chicken and cheese, pork rinds and cheese) 5 - I really enjoyed these. I wished I had ordered more. They’re kind of like tortillas stuffed with whatever you like. The chicken and cheese and pork rinds and cheese were both delicious. -carne asada 4 - I believed the waitress misunderstood me when I said medium rare instead of medium well. The meat could be cut more easily with medium rare. However, when I heated it in the microwave, I was glad that it wasn’t overly chewy. -mojarra frita (tilapia) 5 - The fish was tender and flaky. Since they did cook the whole fish, be careful of the bones especially if you have children. -platanos fritos (sweet plantains) 5 - can’t go wrong with plantains. We got them with sour cream. -empanadas de platano (plantain empanadas) - shape like an empanada, texture like plantain, and inside has sweet cream. Careful it is hot when you...
Read moreWe tried the food here for the first time as Take-out. Having never had Salvadoran food, we didn't know what to expect. We ordered a good smattering of items off the menu and everything was quite fresh and delicious. A pickled cabbage slaw (with other vegetables) came with several of the dishes and it was unique and like nothing I've ever had before. I loved it. It was crisp and fresh. Then, we had several different Pupusas. They were like mixed vegetable and meat pancakes. I'll definitely order them again. There were so many unique flavors between them they're hard to describe. We tried chicken and beef meat pies. These were most like deep-fried empanadas. Again, delicious! My only complaint with them was that they were a touch greasy from the oil but the flavors were good with meat and potatoes and more mixed vegetables inside each pouch. There were no off flavors from the oil. All the dishes were quite delicious as is but the did come with salsa like sauces if you like things spicier. From my standpoint, all the dishes by themselves were delicious and not spicy and I enjoyed them. We finished the meal with fried cassava dumplings which we like fluffy cakes. They were almost like potato pancakes but not quite the same....lighter and not dense like potato. They were served with a dark honey sauce. Quite yummy! Overall, there was nothing about the meal we didn't like. It was all very unique and delicious and a step away from the ordinary of meals we normally get in the area. We look forward to the next time we visit when we...
