Opened December 2022, we decided to go on a Monday night with friends. Located on a busy corner in Schaumburg. Parking could be an issue during busy times such as lunch or on weekends. Immediately when you enter you are greeted by a friendly staff member who is willing to explain their various menu items. The decor is very colorful with Mexican tiles and street art. Loud Latin music playing in the background..but too loud! You place your order and the food is brought to your table . Occupancy is only 85 customers . We received our food very fast..served in throwaway containers. They offer burritos, burrito bowls, tacos, salad, nachos and kids meals. You choose your filling(Spicey or mild) . Chicken, steak, beef, pork.some with an upcharge. They also offer fries, chips and churros along with Mexican beers, frozen margarita ,Mexican soft drinks and more. We had the Burrito Bowl meal and the Cali burrito. We both ordered Spicey but both entrees were not Spicey at all. They do offer 3 different salsas at their self-serve bar area which did add spice to our meals.Roasted jalapeno and Habanero. Staff checked on us twice to make sure everything was OK which was a nice added touch..staffing does not seem to be an issue. They serve breakfast, lunch and dinner and there was a steady flow of customers while we were there. I would have given them 5 stars but the music was too loud and we were overcharged on the Meal Deal and they need to use less salt in their seasonings.

Location was easy to find. I came on Wed night and had no issue with parking. When we walked in, it was pretty dead after 8 pm. I had the Cali burrito, queso fries, churros, and horchata. Btw this is not anything new. In fact, I had my first Cali burrito in Naperville at Invicto 6 years ago. Apparently, it’s very new to many folks. I chose beef brisket (cost a little extra) and spicy. Portion size is decent if you have a short lunch. Taste was good, it was warm, and there was an ample amount of avocado. I recommend getting a side with it. Queso fries were very tasty. Fries were well seasoned and the melted queso provided additional savoriness. Churros they gave me an order of 2. Light dessert with sufficient amount of cinnamon. Horchata was decent, not as good as some of the others I had but still worth a purchase. Decor is nothing fancy but you can see the Mexican influence. I saw many reviews comparing this to Chipotle. Other than the burrito part and bowls, there aren’t many similarities. It’s more of a cross between Chipotle and your typical fast food place. You walk in, look up at the menu, and choose what you want. There aren’t any foods presented in front of you like Subway/Chipotle/Bibibop. Service was good. They kept the place pretty clean.

Guzman y Gomez opened a little over a week ago and is a welcome addition in Schaumburg. The parking lot is great along side a drive thru. It’s similar to other build your own Mexican bowls etc.. but they do everything from the back kitchen vs out front. We were greeted once in the door and were helped with understanding ordering off the menu. We both ordered the Enchilada Bowls. One chicken and 1 beef brisket. The brisket was tender and very flavorful. The chicken was cut inside and had a good smoky flavor. They offer 2 kinds of beans; black or pinto. The guacamole is fresh as are the chips. Both bowls were delicious and generous portions of meat were inside. The only friendly suggestion I would give them is to go lighter on the lime/lemon juice in enchilada bowl sauce as it’s pretty perky. They offer multiple salsas/sauces but we found you really don’t need them as the entrees are already packed with flavor! We ordered the Churro Sundae with dulce de leche sauce which was really good. The ice cream was really creamy with the warm churro it really hit the spot. Great alternative to other Mexican places in the area!

After having such a great experience with the location in Rosemont, we decided we couldn’t go wrong with trying a sister location. We tried this location about 2 weeks ago and had an awesome experience! Unfortunately tonight, the ball was dropped. Walking in around 7:30pm, no greeting was given, no attention, no head turns…nada. No one acknowledged our presence until we finally approached the counter, as there were 2 customers ahead of us. The cashier, rather timid, seemed annoyed and very unhappy to be at work. She didn’t smile not one time. She kept interrupting while we tried to give our order, which led to a moment of confusion. We ordered a steak bowl, Cali burrito meal and a strawberry margarita. The price seemed fair for what we ordered. As we sat down, we noticed some debris on the ground, underneath tables next to and across from us. The music seemed rather loud, where we were struggling to make out one another’s words. This gave us minimal time to talk but much opportunity to observe the crew and taste the margarita. Oh man! When I tell you this was the worst, bitter, rather disgusting margarita I’ve ever tasted, that is not an exaggeration. This margarita looked dull in color, smelled of straight alcohol and just overall looked sad, no garnishments of any kind as well. It tasted foul and way too strong along with that bitter OLD bottom of the barrel taste. YUCK! We noticed about 5-6 youngish looking workers, standing around, cracking jokes and just not completely looking professional, so to speak. They weren’t obnoxious or loud, they weren’t causing a ruckus, but they definitely looked a bit unprofessional. It’s now the time our food has been brought to our table. The same incapable of smiling cashier is the one who brings the tray out….again not a smile in sight along with no eye contact. She lazily puts my burrito bowl down with absolutely no words. She then proceeds to place chips and guac in the same manner along with the Cali burrito. Only this time she manages to get “burrito” out as she is placing the plate down but walking away at the same time. It was just peculiar. Our food was lukewarm, lacking in salt and possibly lime? I’m not sure, but nothing of the bowl tasted fresh. My taste buds were not enjoying it as it did. Such a disappointment. The guy in charge came out to do table touches. Rushing through them and just waiting for his punchline. Seemed rehearsed and not genuine. Although he did apologize for the horrible margarita and offered to fix it or replace it, it all seemed just scripted. We appreciate the breakfast burrito...
