WOW. Absolutely delicious food at a great price. I grew up in Cicero and Berwyn and got used to really great Mexican food there, but after moving to Schaumburg I have been disappointed not to find a worthy Mexican joint to throw my money at. After years of traveling many miles for a good taco, I've finally found what I was looking for!
I ordered my usual, steak tacos and horchata. The steak was some of the best I've had at any Mexican restaurant for only $2 a taco. No fat or gristle, just delicious, perfectly cooked meat. The horchata was very tasty as well. My wife loved her ham torta and the cheese quesadilla and fries we got for my son were enjoyed by the whole family. Best of all, each of our entrees was only about $5! Far better than the overpriced, mediocre Mexican food available elsewhere in this area.
I can't stress how good the quality of the food was, easily better than fancier, more expensive restaurants. If I had one complaint it's that it was a little hard to find since they don't have a light-up sign, only a hand-drawn one in the window.
If you're reading this review, you must go try their food. They've only just opened at the beginning of 2012 and they must be rewarded so they aren't forced to lower their quality or close down before they have a chance to gain an audience. You...
Read moreI don't often write reviews and I very rarely write negative reviews as I try to give independent restaurants the benefit of the doubt. But after getting dinner here tonight... I had to.
When I arrived to pick up the food, there was not a single worker in sight and a line of customers waiting for somebody to appear. We waited for about 4-5 minutes before somebody came out but they didn't even acknowledge us. It seemed like the workers were just chatting in the kitchen and didn't care about us customers. I didn't get my food for another 4-5 minutes after that.
As for the food itself.... revolting. It was mostly cold, the guacamole had no taste, the spinach was wilted, the sour cream was curdling, the mushrooms barely cooked, the meat sitting in pools of oil inside the quesadilla, the chips were terrible, and EVERYTHING was overpriced.
We ate maybe a third of the food before just throwing the rest out because we were afraid of getting sick. I guess time will tell. A real shame. The menu looks great and the restaurant is real cozy inside but the service and food and prices were a disappointment to say the least.
We will never be coming back and will be telling our friends and neighbors to stay away. There are way better Mexican restaurants in the area. Steer clear...
Read moreWhen I moved here from Chicago in 2017, I was so excited to have a great taqueria right down the street from me. The food was excellent then. I'm not sure what happened post-pandemic. The last few times I've ordered from them the food has no seasoning. Really poor quality. I thought they may have changed ownership. Gave them another chance today...absolutely awful. First they are out of carnitas at 3pm, so I substituted for ground beef in my burrito. It was completely bland. No flavor whatsoever. I'm not one to call and complain, but I did today because I honestly thought it must be new ownership. Nope, same owners according to the woman I spoke with. Not sure what has happened there but my experience there today was the worst Mexican food...
