Wow. How is it that I have lived here two years now and I’ve never heard of this place!! I live right behind them no less... Heads up - this place is your hole in the wall, locally owned little joint but it is a gem of a little restaurant! If you’re from down south (Florida, Tennessee, etc), you will know that Latino restaurants have a much different flavor and cooking style than most of the ones you see up here. Not this place!! This place takes me home! Best Mexican style rice I’ve ever had anywhere and their meat has a flavor that I could not put my thumb on but it’s extremely delicious. There’s not a lot of ambience or atmosphere so bring your friends to talk to but wow, I’m hoping this place goes a long way. Ten times better than the El Saltos and La Carettas here in this area. This place is my new go to for sure. Obviously family owned and I love that about it because you’re helping a family change the family tree and the trajectory of their lives, while also simply helping them to pay their bills. The bathroom needs some attention in several areas - including toilet paper holders, and I’d love to see more table and chair options but overall, so excited to have found this place. Somewhat cold inside so bring a jacket. Music was soft and light but brought atmosphere with its own style of traditional Latino music. I can’t say enough. I just hope to see them eventually become the place to be, complete with traditional atmosphere, music, and all. I am super impressed. Love this place and so happy to have found it.

I was kind of shocked that this place was not busy in terms of dine in on a Saturday night. The atmosphere was pretty decent, and most people do take out here, alot of people!!! The server was excellent, he took really good care of us. We ordered the fajita combination 3 platter and 2 tacos lingua, and a steak burrito dinner with chile relleno sauce and cheese on it. Everything was absolutely delicious. We read some reviews that mention that the tortilla chips must be stale but Honestly I think that they are just made hard. They kind of remind me of the chips that come in the Brown bag at Aldi's. Hard and crunchy. They gave us 2 types of salsa, one that was smooth and the other that was chunky. I enjoyed both of them. We also ordered the guacamole as an appetizer, it was delicious. The beans and rice that came with dinner were pretty standard, but I must say the beans were seasoned a little bit better than what I normally have at other restaurants. I will definitely be back again as this is a great place for people like me, Who don't really like a lot of crowd. The one thing I will say is I was a little disappointed that they did not serve mixed drinks, hopefully that will change in the near future. I did however order an Horchata and it was delicious!!!

First time visiting, definitely won’t be the last. I’ve seen this place a lot of times and had some free time to check them out. I’ve been to almost every taco spot in the area and right now El Amigo is at the top of my list. Great quality of meat(I went with the skirt steak), good portions, decent, and a really good price point. If I could only make one suggestion. It may be easier said than done be if there was a way to invest in a grill and do your proteins al carbon style I GUARANTEE it would take your flavors to a whole new level and really set you apart from every other place in the area. Trust me on this haha. See you soon hopefully with that new grill installed 😁. Overall it’s a decent taco. I’d give it a 7.5.

Normally when I have a bad experience, I don’t review, I just never patronize the business again. This time is different because this experience strikes a real bad chord with me. I stopped here to eat after a long day of Christmas shopping. It wasn’t my first choice, I actually wanted Longhorn but it was on the way back home, so it was convenient…besides, Mexican food is always a good choice. Not this time! Not only do they give you chips from a bag (this very common in Indiana), but the salsa was also from a jar! Mexican restaurants should know better…homemade salsa is a thing of pride in Mexican households and with Mexican food! The most disturbing and what I caution everyone to be aware of is the fact that they advertise “skirt steak” and they do charge extra for that choice ($2.00 extra!). Needless to say, I ordered a torta with skirt steak of course, but that’s not what I got. I was extremely upset! They must get away with it enough that they try and pass of the meat they use as skirt steak, which I’m positive is either lomo or charcoal steak, but it definitely was not “arrachera”! There are certain characteristics that skirt steak has and doesn’t have. One of the characteristics of skirt steak is that it has a loose grain, so it’s very distinguishable if your familiar enough and are paying attention. One of the things that is NOT a characteristic of skirt steak is gristle! That’s a characteristic of lomo or charcoal steak. Another thing that is NOT common to skirt steak is grittiness! I told my husband to tell the worker who seemed to be involved in the business somehow and was cashing people out, that what we got was NOT skirt steak! He insisted it was but couldn’t look my husband in his eyes and still charged for that garbage as if it was. Dishonesty is not something that I could ever forgive. I have dined at establishments where I haven’t been served the best tasting food, or even lacked in service (the food here was mediocre at best, and that’s because I piled a bunch of the jarred salsa on it, btw)…but I would go back and give the business another chance. I will never step foot or order from this business again. A business that lies and cheats its customers knowingly is not one I would ever support! If Gordon Ramsey ever ate here, he would tell this person that they are full of $h!+, and that’s exactly what I thought when he tried telling my husband “it was skirt steak, sorry about...

Went here last night with my sisters. We got there around 11:15 & no one came to take our order until 11:30. When the waiter did come to take our order I tried to order a drink & he immediately stopped me & asked if I could order some food because the kitchen closes at 11:30. So he was rushing us. After placing our orders he then asked rudely well “what do you want for drinks” I stated well water , that is what I was trying to order initially. He came back with the water & tossed our straws down in a rude matter. When we got our food, the food was not great. Nobody touched their beans or rice. My sister ordered a burrito & did not like anything about it. She didn’t like how the cheese wasn’t melted. It was just slapped on the burrito. Then she noticed chunks of beef in the front of the burrito & a lot of lettuce in the back. It was not evenly distributed. So she took the meal back & they tried to persuade her nothing was wrong instead of accommodating her. I stated to them, “you cannot force somebody to pay or eat something they do not like or want”. Then the lady who was checking us out stated “well she ordered it” I stated to her “ma’am it does not matter, she does not like her food & you cannot make her eat anything or take anything she does not want & this is our first time here”. Eventually they ended up saying they would take the meal off & we left. I’m not sure if it was because we came in late & why their attitudes were terrible BUT if it was a time then they should have said something when we first got there. We sat at our table for minutes without anybody saying anything to us. Their food is not great. The quesadillas did not come with lettuce &...
