If you’re on the hunt for a spot where the food slaps harder than a rogue wave and the vibes hit like a time capsule of pure joy, Schererville Lounge in Indiana is your holy grail. We rolled in and got blindsided—in the best way—by the fisherman’s platter, a glorious chaos of fried walleye, perch, scallops, shrimp, and frog legs that basically screamed “feast mode.” Then we doubled down with an extra order of fried walleye, and holy hell, it was a beast—massive, majestic, and staring us down like it owned the plate. The breading? Light as a whisper, crispy as a fresh dollar bill, hugging every bite like it was born for this. Everything tasted so fresh it was like the lake jumped straight into the fryer—pure, unadulterated bliss. And the potato skins? These bad boys were executed with such finesse, they could’ve headlined their own show—simple, stellar, downright delightful.
This place is a unicorn, I swear. Inside’s so spotless you could eat off the floor, rocking an old-school charm that’s polished to a gleam—every corner screams “we give a damn.” The staff? Absolute legends—every single one we crossed paths with was so pleasant it felt like they were in on some secret happiness conspiracy. This isn’t just good—it’s a full-on revelation, a middle finger to the bland, overpriced nonsense clogging the world. We only swing through this slice of Indiana every so often, and I’m kicking myself for not finding this gem sooner. Unpretentious grub, top-tier humans, quality that hits you in the soul—Schererville Lounge is the real deal, a throwback to when places like this weren’t extinct. I’m already itching to storm back for lunch, and I’m basically counting the minutes.
5/5 stars—hell, I’d give it six if the universe let me. Come for the food, stay for the vibes, leave with a full belly and a grin. Thank you, Schererville crew, for making our night a banger—y’all are the MVPs keeping this...
Read moreMy husband I have been going to this restaurant for years and have found the food okay, it's not like you have a real choice in restaurants in Schererville other than tacos, pizza and burgers. I suggest if you like to be screamed at and be given major attitude by a waitress, go to the Schererville Lounge for your dining enjoyment. I have found the service there is a craps shoot. The last time we were there, we came in through the front door and entered the dinning area and was immediately accosted by a waitress that scolded us that "we should not have came through that door it lets out all of the cold air and lets the heat to come in!" I was like okay, I guess you don't want people to come in then, she said we should only use the other door through the bar area only. She was being really nasty, face all crunched up like we just killed her first born, waiving her fists around and making a scene. We should of just turned around and left, but we decided to stay and talk to the manager about her. While we waited for the manager to come to our table, we notice how more than several people were using the same door as we did right in front of this hostile waitress and she did nothing, not even scold them like she did us. So the so called manager came over and we told him the story and it was really unnecessary for her to do and say what she said to us. He said - well she's been working for us for a while and sometimes she can be a real a$$ hole - my mouth dropped open and I could not believe what he just said, and after he said that he basically told us to just get over it. We're over it alright, never again will we spend $85+ on a mediocre...
Read moreWell i've been coming here for years, but Covid kept me away for a few, but we went last Saturday. My husband's shrimp was good but seemed as though the oil they cooked it needing changing, My sons crab legs was good.My frog legs were not as good cause they too are cooked on the same oil I'm sure. The bread was stale and I was very disappointed to say the least. My husband and my self have battling a nagging stomach ache for days to lead up to Diarrhea which only lasted for 1 day. But because the oil was so I would say old and it just wasn't not the same. I was very very disappointed. My drink that I had around the label like the sugar smelled like fishy. So I didn't drink it. And I just don't know if the food was mishandled. Or something wasn't sanitized. But we definitely paid a price of not feeling good for 4 days. But we're all better now and it all led up to probably something that wasn't clean properly handled properly and. I just need to know that should be addressed so that doesn't happen to anybody house.. It's sad because I loved this restaurant. I mean, I loved it. I missed the cottage cheese being there. LA coleslaw was extremely Mochi. I hate to even say all these things because it was one of my favorite favorite restaurants. I'm not really sure I will be...
