My boyfriend and I visited Happiness is Pets on April 19, 2025, and were extremely disappointed with how we were treated. We were excited to see the dogs and asked to interact with one we were interested in potentially buying. The employee (blonde hair, nose ring) responded coldly and said they only let people play with dogs if they intend to buy. Iâm not sure if sheâs just always this rude or lacks self awareness but you canât assume that customers wonât buy, these assumptions come off as rude. Also, weâre not the ones working at a pet store? Anyways, We told her we did, but from the beginning, her tone was rude and dismissive.
After my boyfriend accidentally confused the breed, she responded in a very condescending way, clearly making assumptions about us. We still expressed interest, gave our ID, and waitedâonly to be told seconds later that she was refusing to sell us a dog and that we needed to leave. When we asked why, she said, âyou have a bad attitude,â but refused to explain when we asked her.
We later called the store to speak with a manager, who claimed to have witnessed the whole thing and backed the employee completely, again refusing to give a clear reason. I said if should could not give us a reason then we feel discriminated against and then hung up on us. The entire experience felt discriminatory and left us feeling singled out and judged unfairly.
Itâs upsetting and honestly hard not to feel like we were being treated differently because of our race. I donât like to jump to conclusions and play the race card and am understanding when someone is having a bad day but this was beyond that. This was unequivocal and unprovoked hatred. The two âmanagersâ showed no professionalism, no patience, and no respect. Weâll gladly take our...
Read moreI recently purchased a puppy from this store. The store paper policy stated a 3-business day return policy, which I relied on when making the purchase. However, I encountered significant issues when attempting to return the puppy. One employee was incredibly helpful and understanding, and was willing to assist with the return process, she is AMAZING, but when i tried purchasingthe dog the card didn't work she thought i was using a fake card? I went the 3rd day The last day to return However, another employee intervened, abruptly stating that the day of purchase counts as one of the three business days. What??? She looks kinda intimidating to me feels like my manager from a place i used to work, which i got trauma for workingwith her. This policy makes and seems confusion. I purchased a dog at 5 PM and the closing time was 6 pm and my home is 40 min that's means I have more time. I Spent $3000! But no! There's also a return fee seriously why?? They don't want the puppy back. This inconsistent application of the return policy and the lack of flexibility from the second employee were extremely disappointing. She didn't want to take the dog back but she gived me info on the pet, i tried to talk to her to switch dogs, but she said all sales are final. So that means i can't choose another dog for less or the same price?? Given the significant cost of a puppy, a more customer-friendly and transparent return policy would be greatly appreciated. It will be great if they update the return policy for 7 days or do 3 business days more clear for the prices of the puppies are extremely high.
The puppy doesn't have rabies vaccine??
I'm so...
Read moreLook up Happiness Is Pets Bailing Out Benji. And you will see where these people get these innocent animals from. NO reputable breeder would ever sell their animals to families or individuals they don't get to personally meet and screen. NO reputable breeder would allow financing on a LIVING creature. These puppies are from mills and their parents are being overbred for ignorant people to get a purebred puppy. If you are reading these reviews please: go to a humane society like Humane Indiana or a reputable breeder that will show you their parents in person, where the puppies live, health tests for parents, and the lineage of puppies.
And finally, I don't need the automatically copied and pasted message onto every review which has rightfully called out this pet store for their abhorrent track record. We all know where these puppies come from, no matter what semantics you use to justify your greed it does not matter. In plain English this store is mass producing living animals for people who do not know better. These puppies are liable to have any number of medical or behavioral issues because of this. Do your homework people, you could be spending thousands just to have a puppy that doesn't live a long and...
