So Iâm trying to enjoy my meal at work el charro restaurant in schertz with a partner after being in the hospital unable to eat. weâre the only customers there and thereâs about 4 of the workers (6 people total in the restaurant) sitting at a table diagonal from us in full view. Theyâre all speaking to each other in Spanish (which I am a fluent speaker of) disrespecting my partner calling him my father/grandfather etc and just painting a downright nasty narrative even bringing up us being interracial and other disrespectful things harassing us. One of them says :
âwait the lady might know Spanish she looks like she doesâ the other said âoh no I donât think soâ and we see one of the boys and another girl taking pictures the whole time theyâre all laughing at us. I could understand them clearly.
So we finish our meal and I tell the waitress âwe saw 2 of yâall taking pictures of us and we donât appreciate that. We want the managers number to speak with themâ The waitress looked dumbfounded and the other employees are staring at us and the waitress said âoh nonono we werenât taking pictures!â With a nervous look. I kept telling her we clearly saw the boy and the girl employees look directly at us taking pictures then looking away. She was getting upset.
I politely asked for the number of the manager or to speak with them if they were there but she denied and kept trying to argue then said âjust call in the morning. Sorryâ. Not to mention they brought the wrong food out and it came cold so I had to wait a long time. I love this place and the food; Iâve been eating there forever or ordering takeout. It was my partnerâs FIRST time. However this was BEYOND disrespectful talking about someone and their partner trying to enjoy a simple meal and talk about sports and what we wanted for dessert.
As we get up to leave she walks back to their table and says in Spanish to the employees âweâre you guys really taking pictures?â The boy says while laughingâwell yeah but-â The waitress says âyou were?? Why??â This was very upsetting and disappointing because I liked eating there. Theyâre not getting my business if they want to harass customers who try to enjoy their time and weâre polite, patient, and tipped nicely when we had horrible service with the wrong and cold food...
Read moreHorrible place. I like to give places at least the benefit of the doubt but this place was on another low level. I rarely post reviews anywhere but I feel I have to on this place to help somebody out. My waitress was on the phone when she saw us sit down... so we heard her tell whoever she was talking to to "hold on" while she took our drink order (phone still on the other hand). The drinks were bad and the chips were stale. After a long wait for our food, the food came from "another" waitress who brought three plates with her only using her hands. So she carried two plates with one hand and one with the other which normally wouldn't have been a problem except this time alot of my food got stuck to the underside of the first plate that was lodged on top of my plate with her hand. So a good portion of my asada and sour cream was peeled off and "globbed" on the table as she put the plates down. It was really obvious that she saw it and said nothing. We took the high road and continued our meal. The food was not good at all. They have huge signs saying homemade tortillas but those tasted like a very cheap store bought brand. The cheese enchiladas were not good at all.... who messes up cheese enchiladas?? The asada was dry, the barbacoa had an after taste, the rice was flavorless, and the beans tasted like beans from a can. The orginal waitress was sitting at the table next to us laughing and giggling loud with another employee. I don't know if they were on break but it lasted the our entire meal. And no it was not packed at all (there was two other tables occupied only). We had no drink refill request(s) till we asked for the check and the extra charges (for to go cups and plates) surprised me. I normally like to look for "the good" in a place and give it at least 2 different attempts before I disregard it as a restaurant I would come back to, but this one really did not have * 1 * good thing I could say. My 13 year old son and I were both very unhappy with this place. Save yourself the time and frustration and do not go to this restaurant!!! The food gave me stomach problems after.... I will NOT...
Read moreUnbelievable! First time here and last. Off the bat, charging an extra $3.07 for chips?! First one was "free." We had an order of fish tacos and the corn tortillas fell apart since they were soaked making it messy to hold/eat. The quesadilla was uncut. Just a tortilla folded in half which was for kids.
The worst was seeing the check and all of the unannounced up charges. We had ordered a couple of aguas and they asked if we wanted them in a to go cup w lid of which we opted for. Not until we got the check did we see a charge of $.46 each cup. For the fish tacos I asked for limes. Not until we got the check did we see another charge of $1.54 for the limes! On one of the orders came 2 tortillas and requested one flour and one corn. They brought 2 corn. We asked for the one flour tortilla. The brought itâŠ.$.50 charge on the check.
And the grand finale? Server asked if we needed a to-go box. Of course we did since we had left overs. Not until we got the check did we see a $.50 for the to go box.
All of these additional charges were done without informing us beforehand.
I've been to many Mexican restaurants. You don't charge for more chips and you don't charge for all the small incidentals!! But if you, you MUST ADVISE to the customer BEFOREHAND!
As for the food, it was...
