Tried them out tonight after waiting several years from the fire that gutted the place. $75 out the door for dinner for four, ordered a combination fried rice, orange chicken, 4 egg rolls, 8 rangoon, and a large SAT house soup which is a hot and sour base (they no longer offer egg drop). I hate having to write reviews like this, I am really disappointed in wasting my money and will not be returning. Counter gal was nice and food was out in a reasonable amount of time. The new interior design feels like a tacky outdated red lobster knockoff, bar was cute, chairs were weirdly shaped and uncomfortable for my wait.
Whe I got home with my takeout, as I was scooping soup for the kids, I pulled a 6" piece of plastic out of the quart container and threw it away, something from a bag was clipped open and the packaging dropped in the vat that made it into my order. My 11 yo son said it tasted funny, I hadn't gone straight for the seafood in the soup yet, I was too busy eating the mad high ratio of corn first to make the rest more enjoyable. When I did bite into a shrimp I instinctively reacted, immediately spit it out, and washed out my mouth, it was definitely past expiry; absolutely rank. I collected the kids bowls and threw it all down the garbage disposal, it stunk of rot as it was grinding down.
I snacked what I thought was a carrot out of the orange chicken while preparing my plate, spit that out too, it was a coin of orange peel. My mistake. My 12 yo daughter was concerned, so cut one of the tempura chicken pieces, no meat, just a ball of breading.
I was asked during my in-person order how hot I wanted the combination fried rice, not knowing what to expect I asked for medium, not realizing they spice to hotness with ground black pepper, guess we're eating creole tonight. Enough extra soy sauce mostly solved the problem.
The half size eggrolls tasted like they were from frozen, if not that then the pork was starting to turn before it was fried. I can buy better from the grocery store.
Portions aren't what they used to be, but that's not really unexpected anymore in our post-covid world. So much for our family celebratory dinner, we don't order out but 3-4 times a year anymore (including drive-thrus). Mom (me) goes back to the kitchen tomorrow if we're not laid up sick from this disaster. I am truly concerned...
Read moreThis new restaurant on Highway 78 in Schertz is excellent! I took my two daughters after church. The restaurant featured a fantastic new design from the former restaurant.
The dining area is surprising large (compared with the old establishment) and able to hold many people. The bathrooms were updated and clean. Both the dining areas and bathrooms were eye-appealing to the eyes. The dining area is surprisingly large (compared to the old establishment) and can hold many people.
We ordered the Famous Low Country boil, raw oysters of the half-shell, fried calamari, fried scallops, and Cajun BBQ shrimp. They were all delicious. We drank sweet tea, Fanta Orange, and water. All of this cost $69.81.
The boil was loaded with sliced sausage, shrimp, a boiled egg, and corn cob. We got the mild version of the SAT Special seasoning. We barely finished the meal. The cocktail sauce is absolutely the best I have ever had, and I have made it for restaurants and myself.
The prices were outstanding. Our server, Naya, provided terrific service. She pointed us to the daily Happy Hour specials, which run from 3:30 to 6:30. The specials are bargains with good portion sizes.
The menu is loaded with lo mein, Asian Specialty dishes such as orange chicken and pepper chicken. We were too full for desserts. The offerings were tiramisu, chocolate molten cake, carrot cake, NY cheesecake, fired cheesecake burrito and more.We have a new family go-to restaurant when we are not eating sushi....
Read moreI ordered a lunch to go. I was happy to find out that the expensive prices on the menu were for dinner prices. The staff were excellent. They were very cheerful, polite and professional. Lunch was around $11-12 before extras. I was disappointed to find they charge extra for fried rice ($2-$2.50 extra). White Rice comes with the meal. You get nothing else. Your entree and your rice. The to-go plate kept the rice and entree separate and it was sturdy. Major plus in my book. There's nothing like pulling a mess of mixed lunch out of the bag. My issue mainly is with the portion size and the quality of the meal. I got the beef with broccoli meal. I chose fried rice also. Egg roll was extra and they come in 2's. They are considered a side order. The portion was enough, but it was quite small for what you are paying. The food tasted like a "kit" meal. It didn't taste fresh. It tasted like something I can buy at the store. This is a far cry from what the previous tenants provided. The community was used to a good filling meal for cheap and most times you could take home portions of your dine-in meal for leftovers. I am not a Panda Express fan, but I would say the food tasted like Panda Express quality, but for the same price, Panda gives you more. I was...
