I have been to Sconni's several times and should have stopped going after the first couple bad experiences. The two stars, however, vs one is because of their great beer selection and atmosphere. The service, on the other hand, is horrendous. I am not stating that based on one experience, but rather multiple bad experiences. Most recently, I went to Sconni's for dinner with three others, at 7:30 PM on a Wednesday. We waited 20 minutes for a server before going to the bar to ask for one (we were seating by the hostess, so a server should have known). Drinks were also ordered at the bar, and were told the server would bring them over. My husband ordered me a glass of pinot grigio. The server, who came over about 5 minutes later, brought pinot noir. I told her to not worry about it, since she would have to dump it out and I was trying to be considerate. We ordered two appetizers and our dinners at this time. I was torn between the green curry and pork carnitas, so I told her to pick whichever entree she preferred. She asked if I would hold anything off of either, and I said "no, the way either of those come is fine." Our appetizers came. She said she would be right back with plates. 15 minutes later, we had finished the appetizers and still didn't have plates. To continue on, it was over another hour before our entrees came out, around 9pm. She said that it took so long because a "large party" ordered before us. While we were waiting for our dinners, two tables next to us were sat, ordered, ate and left, so that was obviously a lie considering none of us ordered anything that would require extensive cooking time. She had chosen the green curry for me, but decided to add shrimp to it, without asking me, which is an up-charge, and I don't like shrimp. After we were finished, we asked for boxes and the bill. I noticed we were charged not only for the shrimp we didn't order, but also for the glass of wine that was accidentally poured, which was more expensive. We were expecting to pay for the one that was actually ordered.
This is the third time my husband and I had a bad experience with service at Sconni's. The first time we were quoted 20 min for a table (it was a Friday night), we waited 40, and then waited another 20 min for a server. We were there for 3 hours due to the slow service. We each ordered the fish fry and placed our order as soon as the server came over. That should be a 10 minute ticket time. The second time, the server forgot to bring our drinks until after we already had our dinner and we reminded him. We also had to ask a different server for silverware and our check.
If you're looking for a place to get a cocktail or beer, it's a good place. If you're looking for somewhere with decent service, this is the last place I...
Read moreAs we walked in we were promptly met by the hostess, asked if we would like to be seated on the patio or inside- we said it didn't matter and were sat inside (pick the patio!).
We sat for quite some time looking at the menu until finally someone brought us some water, and as we were given our water our server arrived. To be fair, I think our server may have been new and had many tables. He took our drink orders and starter choices and then our entrée order when he brought our drinks. We weren't asked if we needed any drink refills our entire meal.
We had the hummus platter and jumbo pretzel for starters, and these are two items that could easily be shared! They aren't kidding about JUMBO pretzel (see picture).
The hummus was rather bland, the pita was just ok, but the dish looked beautiful. The JUMBO pretzel on the other hand was AMAZING. Highly recommend.
My husband had a burger and fries, and wasn't asked how he'd like it cooked- which we didn't think of mentioning- so it was well done. He said it was a typical bar burger. (He likes everything super plain, so not much changes from place to place 😆).
I had the green curry- and I have to say, I will probably wish to drive all the way from Michigan for the dish again. It has a spicy kick, but it was delicious. Seriously yum. I do wish it had been served with a spoon, since the fork was difficult to eat it without dripping.
My sangria was delish, too!
The lady who helped buss the table was super friendly and turned our visit around with her interaction. 10 ⭐️for her! Loved her friendliness.
Take note of the fine print on the bottom...
Read moreVery odd experience. My family (4) came in on a Saturday night. There were a handful of occupied tables in the dining room, a separate dining room was closed and the patio had a couple occupied tables. We were told it would be a 15 min wait so the kitchen could "catch up". Plenty of open tables, but ok I get it. We had a drink at the bar while we waited, no big deal. They were out of multiple beers. We were seated outside per our request, very cute patio! Our waiter was nice but very slow to come to the table. We placed an order for an app and the order our main meals. They were out of the soba noodles so I did the curry instead. Our app came faily quickly but the meal too over an hour! Our server never came to see if we wanted drinks or check on us during this time. When our meal came my husband's salad had zero dressing on it. We flagged our waiter down for dressing and 2 waters. He brought 1 water and never returned with the dressing or the other water. My husband had to hunt him down to get the dressing and he had forgotten. No biggy but not apologetic, didn't come back to the table to check on us the entire meal. Just dropped the check at th end. My curry wasn't great, my husband didn't love the salmon on his salad, the brussel sprouts were supposed to br spicy but were just super sweet, also not great, all was just meh. It wasn't busy and im having a hard time understanding why our meals too forever and our service was lacking. Cute ambiance, just just cant recommend...
