My husband and I haven't eaten out much since Covid-19. What few times we do, we chose a restaurant that offers outdoor or open air seating. We'd eaten at Carlyle Grill several times and enjoyed it, so stopped for lunch today. We asked to be seated in the room that has the "garage doors", so it was open on one side of the room. We were impressed to see the list of precautions they said they were taking in response to Covid. Like "sanitize door handles every 5 minutes". We were seated right next to the door and not once during the hour we spent there did anyone clean the door handle! Why state you are taking precautions when you don't?! Not good! My husband ordered a burger and fries. He liked his burger, but the fries were ice cold. Our waitress brought more out that were nice and hot. I had a salad with grilled chicken. It was good, nice and fresh, but I felt a bit overpriced at $15.
The service was good, just not happy about the lack of door handle sanitizing!
Below review is of our visit 12/2019 My husband and I ate at Carlyle Grill for the first time last month and loved it. Everything was perfect, from the food to the service. However, I wouldn't recommend it for a large group. We and 5 other couples ate there last night (we made reservations). Right off the bat we were told they didn't do separate checks. That would've been a huge pain with so many people. My husband talked to the manager and they said they would split them as a one time courtesy, which we were happy about.
Our waitress didn't seem able to deal with so many people at once. We waited 45 minutes for bread and butter to come out. She kept forgetting drinks, and I had to ask for water refills at least 5 times. Everyone's meals were good, I had grilled salmon which was delish, though the potatoes that came with it weren't very hot, and were a bit dried out. My husband called the restaurant ahead of time and asked if it would be ok if we brought a cake in. He was told ok, no problem. Well they neglected to tell him that there was a $1 per slice cutting fee. Not to sound cheap, but I thought that was tacky and we should've been told that up front. We could have easily cut and plated it ourselves!
I also had to ask our waitress at least 5 times for a bag for my doggie box. Shortly after we left, my husband called and spoke with a manager about our poor service, all the manager did was say "thanks for letting me know". Not, "sorry, we'll do some retraining" or, "you can have a drink on us next time", nothing.
We will be back as a couple, but certainly not with a larger group. If I were rating last night on service alone, I would've given it...
Read moreThis was a first time visit. We went for lunch. Our window booth in the large dining area was perfect. Our waitress was excellent. My friend enjoyed her rueben, and she was pleased that the corned beef was very lean, as she can't handle any fat. I had to order a salad because I have numerous dietary restrictions. I was overjoyed because this salad was described as containing ingredients I can eat. It was the roasted chicken salad. Unfortunately, the salad was sadly lacking in those ingredients. It was supposed to have dates in it. There was one small slice of a date. There was very little goat cheese. (It's the only cheese I am permitted to eat.) There were also supposed to be raspberries. There were exactly three. The other ingredients were fresh, but I was looking forward to having ingredients that are not widely offered in salads. The chicken in the salad was ample, but not flavorful. My advice to others is, "Do not order a salad." Or, alternatively, tell your server you read a review about salad ingedients being skimpy, so you expect to see generous amounts of all the ingredients. I can eat no grains, dairy, nightshades, and very little sugar, so the salads were the only menu items that somewhat worked. This particular salad, minus the cornbread, worked best. We were celebrating my friend's birthday. At least it was a good experience for her. The carrot cake was enough for 3 people. I only took a small bite, and there was no way my friend could eat it all, so she took a large amount home. It was exceptionally good...
Read moreNew to the area and had been here one time on the recommendation of neighbors. Were happy, and with my parents in town, figured Carlyle Grill would be our “go-to” for out of towners. Martini and Old Fashioned were strong and spot on, but should be for the price ($$$). Waitress was friendly but scattered. Calamari was great, but light on calamari. The seafood cocktail sauce I requested never showed up and I had to ask twice. My French onion soup was delivered to the table next to us. 2 in our party ordered the chicken with mashed potatoes and gravy. Expecting maybe a nice chicken breast, however the menu lacked any description that it was pounded out, breaded and deep fried schnitzel style. Was dry. For $39 another ordered the 6 oz petite filet. The meat was thin and odd shaped and appeared almost be a scrap or left over end cut. My NY Strip was spot on, honestly. If I were the only one eating, I would have been quite satisfied. However, I asked for a double loaded baked potato and it came out with little toppings. 3 of our 4 of our dishes arrived and we had to wait on 4th. The waitress never once stopped by after that or during our meal to see how everything was. $170 for dinner for 4, hardly worth it. I tipped 16 percent ($30) and felt like a fool for doing that. New to the area, on to Knights I guess! Sadly, not our “go-to” for...
