Hibernian Tavern — Restaurant in Scituate

I went with a friend on a Thursday night. It was very busy which was great to see and they are doing a good job of distancing tables. We were sat at a table a bit away from the front of the restaurant, which was ok with me but after a while we started to think they forgot about us. We were talking so we lost track of time a bit but after about 40 minutes we flagged down a server; she was very apologetic. We ordered and our meals were brought very quickly. I got the burger and my friend got the shepard's pie. Both were very good. I could taste the seasoning they put on the burger and the cheese added a great flavor. The fries were ok. My friends shepard's pie looked huge and delicious, with mashed potatoes making a great topping. I'm excited to try other things on the menu, the brussel sprouts and Irish nachos especially. All 5 of my experiences both dine-in and take out have been an utter disappointment. The employees are very pleasant and friendly. The Harbor Burgers with Bacon (3) Have been terribly overcooked, (1) (take out) was essentially not cooked and had to be returned for a replacement and is over priced at $19, The Rueben - Corn Beef was very tough and way too much dressing creating a soggy mess. The Pan Seared Scallops were mediocre at best. The Shepards Pie was essentially gravy soup. The Tavern Lobster Mac & Cheese had very, very little lobster. We are longtime Scituate natives and live just down the street in the harbor. Went on 8/27 for a quick bite at 8:45.The chowder you could stand the spoon up in with a ton of flour. I joked we must’ve gotten the bottom of the pot and she said very currently that they make the chowder as required, and there wasn’t a pot. My hotdog was cold with a spicy relish – not very appetizing.

The young lady who wascbartender really couldn’t care about us being unhappy and slapped the credit card folder on the counter and walked away without saying thank you.
