I have come to Mill Wharf likely 12 times in my life and can’t say I have ever had a great experience. The main draw to the restaurant are the views, which are the best of any restaurant in Scituate Harbor, and was why we ate here this time.
We ate upstairs since we didn’t have a reservation. We waited 5 minutes for someone to greet us and show us to a table with multiple servers walking by without even a look. Finally I went to the bar and asked if we should seat ourselves and were told to find a table we like.
That’s when we noticed that there were no six person tables available and any tables with a view of the water had not been cleared yet. We waited a few more minutes to see if we could get a table cleared and again no one paid us any attention. So we finally combined a table with a uncleared table in hopes that would draw attention. Finally the manager came over and apologized and cleared the table and ensured we got menus.
We then waited another 15 minutes for a server to greet us without luck. We see multiple employees sitting at the bar or at empty tables socializing and eating. We finally again had to ask the bartender for service and still waited additional 5 minutes. By then no one in our group was happy and it soured the whole experience. The service from then on was adequate- same with the food and drinks. Nothing makes this place special other than the views, which do not out weigh the poor...
Read more3.5 hours for food - DONT BOTHER!!!
Listen, I have been here at least 15 times. It's my go-to spot in Scituate. I dont know what has happened in the last 6 months, but the issue needs to be addressed - and QUICKLY. This is a direct reflection on management. HIRE MORE STAFF!
This is the 4th time in 6 months. Every single time, the kitchen has been "backed up". I didn't have a wait staff check in for over an hour after we initially ordered appetizers. The appetizers came 1.5 hours later!! We didnt even get our main dishes in the queue for an hour and a half. The food took more than 3 hours!! The poor wait staff had no less than 25 tables, both inside AND outside (yes, I had time to count them).
Everyone (including the hostess) seemed frantic and out of control. I had to literally ask the hostess for my bill so I could leave my 3.5 hour endeavor. If I wanted this kind of experience, I would have flown to Paris to be just as ignored.
The waitresses were coaching the bar tenders how to make a tequila sunrise for goodness sake!
All in all, I blame the management and ownership. Get your ship together or soon you'll be out. There are so many great spots coming into that area that patrons will go to.
Dear reader: if you have made it this far, go anywhere else. There are far better places that will actually serve you...
Read moreWe recently went for lunch. I was curious how things have changed with the new ownership. They no longer take reservations so that rules out family get togethers. As always the view is great. I was happy that the lunch menu looked similar although the prices have gone up. Our Server was great! The onion rings were always very good. We shared them as an appetizer. They came out quickly and were hot. Whether they are still hand made I am not sure but they were very good. They have also added a spicy mayo that I liked and still provided ketchup. We all got the burgers. The last time I got the burger it was very disappointing. Over cooked and dried out, this time it was better. It had more of a crust on the outside and was not dried out in the center although I would have preferred it cooked less. They no longer serve a pickle and you hav to pay extra for onion. I am not a fan of brioche buns they can be too much bread. They would be better if grilled with butter. The fries were ok but could have been hotter. I will try some of the other items to see how they compare next time. You can no longer get a cup of chowder only a bowl. I hope the Baked Scrod and Lobster Rolls live up to their...
