Scam Artists. I made a take out order for 2 curries and only received 1 box of rice. I thought it was a mistake and pointed it out to the manager at the front desk. He mentioned that that is the way it comes. I told him all other Indian places provide 1 box per curry and he just said I can buy another for $3. Also, he's a middle-aged North Indian guy who is the manager but pretends that he's not the manager when you ask: "I want to speak to a manager." Also, the chicken tikka box was SMALLER and barely had any chicken pieces in it. We basically got the scraps left over from the buffet. We wound up cooking rice for my children when I arrived home and they had to wait until it was done. Never going to this scam place again.

Good food, but tiny portions. Lousy customer service. These photos are of $15 entrees. The amount of meat is abysmal...not even a half a chicken breast swimming in a pint container of sauce. That means you are paying $15 for half a chicken breast! And, one container of rice to split between 4 entrees? At least give us enough rice to eat the rest of the sauce after the meat is gone. While it may taste great, it's not worth the money for the amount of food you are getting. When we called to ask if they forgot a dish in the takeout bag, it took multiple people to finally get to someone incredibly condescending and rude, when we were just asking a simple question (for the fourth time).

It was less than $20 per mature buffet patron, even on weekend lunch. There were more than a dozen items, including panipuri, salad, six condiments, three vegetable dishes, cheesecubes , and three types of chicken. The mint chutney was slightly too salty and there was one undercooked piece of chicken, but overall the food was perfectly flavored. The buffet serving trays keep the food cooking. I found that food near the middle was cooked better. Another review mentioned undercooked tandoori chicken, which I did encounter once, but it was not a problem with drumstick portions in the center of the structure, especially after some time. Another customer mumbled, "It's worth the carbs."

This has been an ongoing problem with RED PEPPER. We have been going to this place since it opened. The problem is their lack of knowledge of food safety. They habitually put out raw chicken (Tandoori). This has happened the last 8+ times we have gone there for lunch. I tell the manager and he says "ok". They never remove the chicken that was put out and just leave it for the next potential customer. For a buffet , they are SLOW to replenish the food that is already out. You have to TELL THEM that they are out of an item. Service is always decent and your water glass never goes empty. Today, I believe the owner was there and I had the privilege of showing him the raw chicken his restaurant is serving and told him that this was not a isolated incident. I told him that this negligence can result in someone getting very sick (I speak from experience). It could also result in a fine with the board of health. He just said that he would tell them, took my plate and left. He and the manager never came out of the kitchen. We have been going to this place since it opened....and told that to the owner. I also told him that his restaurant is not the only Indian restaurant in the area and we would not be coming back again. He did not seem fazed or really cared. It is sad that yet another vacant storefront will be decorating Rt 22 in Scotch Plains. Nearly $39.+ tip and barely ate anything. I guess its money well spent to just get that final F-IT attitude. If the manager and owner do not care that their cooking practices are potentially dangerous to their customers health, then we do not care to take a risk for food poisoning or worse. Rest in Peace Red Pepper. You were good for a long time.....but it is the last time that...

Very nice atmosphere, absolutely packed to the brim on arrival which to me is always a good sign. The prices were reasonable. The decor was lovely and the wait staff were very fast and efficient, but their table side manner left a lot to be desired. Reaching over my plate banging everything down on the table, very sloppy. As for the food, well........I ordered the lamb Biryani and whilst the taste was good, it did not taste like a biryani to me, it was more like a pilau rice. It even looked like pilau rice. Don’t get me wrong, as pilau rice is just as delicious, but the flavour isn’t the same. The onion baji wasn’t quite right and tasted more like pakora. My friend’s dish which I believe was the tikka masala didn’t taste at all good to me. My friend wasn’t impressed, but because she only likes chicken beast meat she didn’t want to complain. We have decided this place may be good to come back to for the lunch buffet which is cheap, you can try a bit of everything and feel like you received true value for money. As this is the third Indian restaurant I’ve eaten at in eleven days (celebrating my birthday), it comes in third place for me. I would say that for the untrained palate you will enjoy the food as the flavor is...

I would NEVER ORDER FROM HERE OR RECOMMEND ANYONE TO SPEND THEIR HARD EARNED MONEY WHERE ITS UNAPPRECIATED. They are the rudest restaurant i have ever ordered from. - I placed an order for a chicken saag dinner meal and a lamb saag dinner meal. When I picked up the order there was only one container of rice. We asked and they stated they put both sides or rice together in one. The next time I called in for an order, I requested that the rice be separate. Often times I order for myself and drop off for my mom. As this is the case, I need 2 separate containers of rice for the 2 separate orders that I placed and paid for. When I asked about getting 2 containers I had to argue with the gentleman as to why i needed that. That is UNACCEPTABLE. If I am ordering 2 dishes then the dishes should be packaged as two orders. THE FACT THAT I HAD TO EXPLAIN ARGUMENT STYLE AND IN DETAIL WHY I NEED THEM SEPARATED DEMONSTRATED THE GENTLEMANS LOWEST FORM OF CUSTOMER SERVICE. I have no doubt after how he spoke to me that the one container was to his benefit and not to mine. My need was not even considered. He was a rude NASTY man. and I would NEVER ORDER FROM HERE OR RECOMMEND ANYONE TO SPEND THEIR HARD EARNED MONEY WHERE ITS...
