House of Bagels — Restaurant in Scotts Valley

BEST BAGEL PLACE IN SANTA CRUZ. Bagels are fresher and larger than Bagelry. Portions are bigger and cheaper than the Bagelry. You get more stuff on your bagel without having to pay extra, which unfortunately is the case at the Bagelry. I always get a Lox sandwich with capers, onions, lettuce, tomato, and cucumber already included in the price which is $7. At the Bagelry when I order a Lox sandwich, I get a stale bagel twice smaller and I have to pay extra for capers and tomatoes- $13 total, which does not have any lettuce or cucumber in it. Hidden gem.

Didn't know what to get around here for lunch. And wow was I lucky to come upon this place.

Upon walking in it felt very local. It was clean, inviting and the smell was making me want food!

The menu is awesome with so many fantastic options. I personally got the lox bagel and cream cheese. It was fresh and tasted awesome.

I like the food, and it’s a lovely family run business, but they don’t always have the best quality control. This for example was a to go order and they shouldn’t have sent it like this, it was simply burnt.. Getting more and more frustrated. Even asking for a garlic bragel to be lightly toasted gets the heck burned out of it! They seem to have lost any ability to not burn the outside of bagels :(. For the money I would say it’s no longer worth it since they keep burning the heck out of the food no matter what you ask for. I guess they just don’t understand burnt garlic is...
