To begin, we noticed a very crowded front entrance and walked inside to check the wait time. There wasn’t anyone at the front to check you in for at least 10 minutes. Judging by the gloomy look on employees faces (not all, some) I questioned if this was a poor decision to dine here. A long line at the register was filled with customers trying to check out. It was very sloppy and disorganized. After being told “yall see that table right there? (She pointed) go to this here table right there”, we waited 16 minutes before a waitress finally came to ask what we wanted to drink. After receiving our beverages, we had to wait another 12 minutes before being asked what our dinner selection would be. Upon receiving my order, I noticed it was the chicken fried chicken and not the chicken fried steak. I finally flagged down a waitress to inform her that the order was wrong. She literally snatched my plate from me and didn’t apologize for the mishap. Another waitress finally brought me the correct item(s) I ordered. There were a total of FOUR (4) waitresses that waited on my family and I. It was a bit perplexing not having one set waitress to accommodate our needs. The logistics behind this approach is purely and blatantly asinine. The food is as mediocre as can be. I would describe it was a poor man’s version of “comfort food”. The okra had a batter that was soggy and flavorless. The corn nuggets were cold and mushy. The hamburger steak was cooked nicely but lacked any flavor. The only positive aspect of the restaurant is the salad bar, and at best, is just average. Another oddity is that there are TWO women’s restrooms at the front of the restaurant in a convenient location but totally separated from the men’s which was located in the very back of the restaurant. I had high hopes of this restaurant based on the number of patrons, reviews, etc. The major aspect of this review is essentially due to the character of the employees working there. They lack integrity and kindness. I personally don’t want to dine in a place where workers aren’t friendly and have this dark gloom surrounding their faces. I even noted to the cashier that my experience was unpleasant and gave reasons why, but she didn’t seem to have any interest or apologize for the...

Sad, sad, sad! Warning: We're BBQ snobs. It takes a LOT to move the needle for us. We're occasionally willing to give new places a shot but at the end of the day it's rarely as good as what we do at home or as the 3-4 known good BBQ joints nearby.

We got the recommendation for this restaurant from an employee at Unclaimed Baggage Center, and I convinced my wife that this once might be different.

Wrong.

Where to begin?

The name alone was cause for concern. Looking at the menu online only yielded their sandwich menu. Not looking good as it was pitched to us as a BBQ place. (Their listed website from Yelp was DOA). FYI- there are not 50 'taters' on the menu. Still don't know why that particular name was a thing.

Because we're used to disappointment from new places, we thought it best to try an appetizer. Since my wife was considering the BBQ pork plate, we ordered the BBQ nachos.

I asked the waitress what came on them, and she looked at me like I was a giant insect.

After processing for a few seconds, we were informed there were chips, followed by an awkward pause. Pulled pork, lettuce & tomato, with sour cream, salsa and cheese on the side. We were very concerned, but ordered anyway.

For starters, the pulled pork was extremely dry and had zero flavor. No bark. No smoke ring. No rub and discernable flavor.

It was atop very salty bagged tortilla chips, and coarsely chopped iceberg lettuce, and huge chunks of tomato that were barely quartered. I honestly think they grabbed the veggies from the salad bar and added them as-is. The cheese was bright yellow and tasted like it came from a gallon can.

The entire configuration was what you might expect if you were being served nachos by someone who's never actually eaten nachos before but thought the sounded interesting when they read about them.

We finished what we could, paid our bill and politely got the heck out of dodge.

I write this as we are en route to Hickory Pit in...
