Ordering online: Note when using Eat24 or DoorDash that there is usually a 10-15 minute delay from when you place the order to when Bowl of Greens receives it. Then add another 5-10 min to make the order. If you order between 11:30 and 1pm, M-F, and if it happens to be busy, just assume that your salad or sandwich won’t be made until you actually get there.
Location on website is wrong (see attached pic for correct loc).
Very high turn-over rate of employees. Combination of being fired or walking out (why would they not come back? Keep reading.)
Watch how he trains new-hires. His style is “micro-management” (aka: helicopter parenting). He focuses so much on details, like making a sink look shiny and clean, or placing the sweet potatoes perfectly on the plate, that he often misses bigger pictures.
Always assume that the orange juice, fruit cups, cucumber/carrot cups are a couple of days old.
Smoothies are made with frozen fruit, unfiltered tap water, a TON of white cane sugar, and rose water. Colada smoothie is made with coconut syrup. Kiwi smoothie = no kiwis. The Mocha Freezer has high fructose corn syrup (in the Hershey’s liquid chocolate). Every batch of lemonade/limeade contains 4-5 cups of sugar.
Vegan alerts: When employees assemble sandwiches, they often touch the chicken first, and then touch the lettuce and tomato and parsley, etc. without changing gloves. Rice is made with chicken broth. Cheese often drops into the hummus and baba ganoush during the lunch rush.
Sometimes bad-looking carrots are kept in buckets behind the juice bar counter (to use in juices), while putting the pretty ones on display. Produce is GMO and non-organic.
Extra side of sauce or dip? 50 cents.
Veggies instead of rice? 2 dollars.
More chicken than the tiny amount they give you? 2 dollars.
Watch the owner berate employees for making salads that are too big. One customer commented that he almost felt like punching the owner because of how he was treating employees.
Cooks do not wear gloves when touching croissants or handling bread for chicken/eggplant parm sandwiches, or bread for ravioli. Don’t order anything special or complicated from the cook on Sundays—doesn’t speak English.
During busy lunch, owner says, “Move the line, move the line.” Are customers merely cattle to be moved through as quickly as possible?
Some of the dishwashers had bad skin reactions (burns?) on their hands and forearms from the bleach that the owner puts in the water.
The owner is from Jordan and English is not his first language (although he lived in NJ for many years). “Sandwiches” are actually wraps. The “customer rewards program” is actually a gift card with a discount.
There are no assistant managers, no shift leaders, no assistant shift leads, no structure, no organization. Owner changes the rules and yells (loudly) at employees when they don’t follow them. “Conflict resolution” just means to fire the employee.
He is “drowning” in paperwork (poor time management skills) and doesn’t understand why he can’t get a good crew.
Watching him go through new-hires is like watching a kid trying to tie his shoes, and the laces keep getting tangled up. Then he gets angry at the laces for “defying” him, and ends up throwing out the shoes and buying new ones. Repeat. Again. Again.
When you eat at Bowl of Greens, these are the kinds of things you...
Read moreI will preface this by saying their food is good, healthy and they have a wide variety of options BUT the biggest problem is the lack of customer service. I've been to many restaurants all over the state as I am a native Arizonian, but this is by far one of the worse customer service experiences I've ever had. I've managed in the food service industry for many years so I understand how the system works, but this place overall has awful customer service. During my visit I was asking basic questions, seeing I've never come here before, about the food and how to order and the person who was helping me was so rude and raised his hands towards me like I was inconveniencing him with my questions. BTW! there wasn't a line or anyone behind me and my girlfriend. Another person was also rude to her because she was asking if certain items contained things SHE IS ALLERGIC TO which would make her severely ill. Would never recommend this place to anyone and would caution anyone who is interested in going to be aware of the awful...
Read moreI ordered a chicken caesar for lunch and requested that the pita chips to not be added as I am diagnosed with Celiac Disease. The note that put on the order was "Please do not add pita chips since I have Celiac and cannot have gluten of any kind." When the salad was delivered I saw that there not just some pita chips but a lot of them. DoorDash took care of me as best they could but I wanted to let them know about the situation so that it wouldn't happen to someone else. The manger, who did not give me her name, said that the note read "Please add pita chips since I have Celiac Disease and cannot have gluten of any kind." There was no apology of any kind and it felt like she just brushed this off like no issue. I was lucky and was able to catch the mistake before it was too late, but now I fear to order from them again. If you have Celiac or are gluten sensitive I recommend staying away from here. If my interaction is any indication they do not take health issues as seriously as they should, especially for health...
