Writing this review after tasting food through online, over the phone, dine in and delivery orders over an year, chose it sometimes just because some indian food is available in scottsdale after 9 PM Particulary the order that I got couple days ago. This item is named "Madhurai Chicken Pakoda (Bone-In)" and priced at 11.99. This is nothing but a battered chicken deep fried in oil and barely comes with 6 / 7 pieces. Still wet in oil and it is packed / served. I actually requested the item spicy and it actually came with No salt, no spice basically no taste. Also not sure if that is half prepared or half eaten by someone after looking at the amount of saladthat was inside the box. Silly and shameful thing is they named it after a great place. It just ended up in trash anyways. My humble request is either make the taste better after it's name or remove that item from the menu. Many items doesn't even meet the basic standards what they are named after.
Only very few items are good and they won't be consistent with the taste everytime and most of the other items are barely mediocre. One good thing I have observed is one guy from the front desk is polite, listens and actually tries to compensates the order for missing items next time but that's not the solution everytime.
Dine-in is a frustrating experience almost everytime, no one comes over and takes the order, had to be reminded that we are actually in thier restaturant and need someone to comeover and take the order. If someone comes by chance they just ask something and send another person after a while, who barely knows the items and even their names in the menu. At times (not all times) the plates and silverware are clean. They have water marks and bad odor. Tandoori items are soggy when they were brought to the table and three items I had so far aboultely had no taste at all it was just a solid colored substance. The restaturant will be done with pulav items during the day on weekends and biryani is barely avaialble around 8 / 9 pm during any given day.
Whether it is phone / dine-in order they go inside the kitchen to check if one or two order can be made, for almost every item, even biryanis on weekend. I’m not mentioning about ordering good list of items just before or atleast 30 minutes before they close
Delivery order was satisfactory one in 5 times, rest of the experiences would be obviously no salt / taste, missing or misplaced items. They barely pick phone. They will either leave it ringing or just disconnect the call(I even saw this when I was there for dine-in). Have to call them atleast 2 times for the call to be picked up. There were instances where didn't pick phone for about 2 hours straight, I experienced this even today as well where we tried to call from different numbers in between a two hour window.
Leaving 2 star just for those very few items...
Read moreI rarely leave negative reviews, but my recent experience with Hyderabad House in Scottsdale was honestly one of the worst I’ve had with any restaurant. If I could give zero stars, I would.
I ordered Gobi Manchurian, and right from the first bite, it was a disaster. The batter wasn’t sticking to the cauliflower at all, and it had a weird, sour taste that made it hard to eat. It felt like it had been sitting out for a while or was poorly prepared.
Then came the real letdown—three different pulavs, and each one was a disappointment in its own way: • Paneer Majestic Pulav: The rice was undercooked and hard, and instead of a flavorful paneer dish, it felt like they just tossed some marinated paneer chunks on plain rice. There was no real flavor, no balance, and it was just unpleasant to eat. • Potlam Shrimp Pulav: This was probably the worst of the three. The shrimp tasted off—like it was starting to spoil. The smell and taste were just wrong, and I couldn’t even continue eating it after a couple of bites. • Raju Gari Kodi Pulav: They didn’t even send the correct item and gave us a regular chicken biryani instead. On top of that, the chicken was spoiled and the rice was, again, undercooked.
I’ve tried Hyderabad House at other locations and had better experiences, but this one in Scottsdale was unacceptable. Poor food quality, questionable freshness, and zero attention to detail in fulfilling the order. I won’t be ordering from here again, and I definitely wouldn’t recommend it to anyone else. It’s not just disappointing—it’s unsafe to serve...
Read moreAs of the time of writing this review, I can say without doubt that this place is the best fine-dine Indian restaurant Indian cuisine in at least North Phoenix (most likely all of Phoenix).
Let me start with the pleasing ambience - while there are a few other Indian food places that offer decent food, Hyderabad House beats them all by miles when it comes to the look and feel inside. It is spacious, is very well-lit, and is on a corner with a floor to ceiling glass storefront that gives one an even bigger sense of space.
Let’s move to the food - I was there for dinner with a friend on a Saturday night. We ordered Shahi Paneer, Rice, Tandoori Rotis, and the food was outstanding. The Shahi Paneer was amazingly creamy (which is how it should be!), the paneer was soft, and the flavors were mellow yet marked. The complaint I have against most Indian restaurants is that they overdose on spices and chillies so it was refreshing to find a restaurant where your body felt good after eating and the food was classy as opposed to street-food types.
Finally, I’d like to compliment the service. The place is run by a bunch of very young entrepreneurs and some of them seem young enough to be in college (and maybe they are - I didn’t ask). They are very warm and welcoming, respectful, and eager to please……now if you add the spirit of the young to succeed to outstanding food, pleasing ambience, and a central location such as theirs, I believe one is looking at something pretty blockbuster here and I’m excited that Indian food is finally getting a facelift...
