Stopped in here on a Saturday afternoon on a whim and was a little underwhelmed.
Coffee- standard mediocre diner coffee. Poor quality beans brewed too strong using unfiltered water. Bitter, burnt tasting and not all that appetizing
Food- I got the biscuits and gravy breakfast with ham. The eggs were cooked to perfect over easy, no snotty whites, and no congealed yolks, was actually really impressed with how well they did them. Unfortunately, everything else on the plate seemed like it had been sitting and waiting to be reheated and served. The biscuit was dense and the bottom half was tough and dry, the gravy was runny and slightly separated, seemed like they had almost been thinning it with something to make a batch last longer, very little flavor, even in the many chunks of sausage throughout the gravy. The hash browns were crunchy, like they had been sitting in the corner of the griddle for way longer than needed, and the ham was middle of the road at best, a little dry, a little tough, and had a bit of that āhot dog/mixed meatā taste.
Service- I want to state upfront that MOST of the employees I saw were polite, smiling, and extremely friendly. The server I had- not so much. She was curt and short with her words, practically slammed my dishes down onto the table, barely waited for any response to her questions of how I was doing before just continuing to walk on by, and not even the faintest glimmer of a smile. She had a general attitude like I was an interruption into her busy schedule and she could not wait to be rid of me. I would understand that a little bit if I had walked in 10 minutes to close, but these guys close at 2:30 and I came in around 1:00. I am clear this woman is not necessarily representative of the whole restaurant, but thereās no excuse for rudeness when you work in the service industry.
Overall, I might be willing to give this place another try at some point, but Iāve got great options that are much closer to me that Iād rather...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreBad service or server, you guess. Went there last Thursday morning for breakfast. Was acknowledged quickly and was seated. Took a few minutes before waitress stopped and asked if we wanted coffee or beverage. Ordered our coffee and breakfast at the same time (we were ready as I mentioned, we had a few minutes waiting). Came out with coffee and juice and the wait began. after about 10 minutes more waiting we noticed two other couples that had come in, one at the same time we had and another after we did, The one couple was almost finished and the other just received their order. Thinking something might be wrong, waited another 5 minutes (no waitress came by and mentioned anything) got up and went to ask about our order. She would check on it, so sat back down. Another order came out a few minutes later and still no answer on our order. So went back in and asked again, just got a blank look and then I saw our waitress back at the food station. She said they ask working on it right now, be right out (OK been there almost 30 minutes now) said to my wife what was told, another 5 minutes go by and our waitress cam our with what we thought might be our order. WRONG! With not even any communication or explanation this entire time just walks by. Well thanked them for the on the house coffee and juice expressed our comments and ate at another establishment. We do not mind if our order gets missed, just explain it, we are all human but there was definitely lack of training or caring from this...
Read moreEvery single person working, there was great, the hostess, the waitress, the bus boys and girls, all were terrific. But my extra crispy hashbrowns weren't, my over easy eggs were liquid with egg white on top and had to be sent back, the gravy on the biscuits and gravy was watery and insufficient to cover the biscuits, not that I really wanted more of it⦠The sausages were good, but everything was cold. That's the first time it was served. The second time, it was colder. The place is absolutely packed to the gills and is noisy as dodger Stadium. So they must be doing something right, but it sure didn't happen for us. I will say the coffee with some of the best I've had in a breakfast joint. But I don't think I would return, at least not to order eggs. Maybe the pancakes and such are better. Again, excellent service. We were well taken care of by all the wait staff. UPDATE: Thanks to the management for the response; I'm not looking for any compensation (and I hope we tipped adequately for the excellent, friendly service): I just wouldn't order eggs there again. Or hash browns. And probably wouldn't go when it's so busy. I've worked in kitchens, I know it gets crazy and can make allowances. Heaven knows you don't need our business (you are packed, all the time it seems!) Given the crowds I was surprised. We just don't get to dine out much at all and this breakfast made us sad. I DO appreciate the...
