I’ve taken some time to really think about the overall for our favorite Asian place/Goto, that we’ve LOVED so much-
Before posting ‘our’ thoughts/(my review), for Flo’s. While it has ALWAYS been our favorite for years, (Promenade included, before closing),.. We’re now sadly, VERY hesitant to come back, after our last visit out.
My husband and I rarely get our own times together/much less OUT TIMES,.. And we chose to come back to one of our favorite places to have an early/quick dinner, before having the rest of our day and evening together. It was very nice at first, until about the time when Flo was leaving for a bit -
There was a particular female staff ‘person’, not sure if she’s family or not -
(We’ve seen her there previously),..
Who ‘took the place into her own hands’, as some would say, in a VERY UNCARING & DO NOT CARE, kind of way towards anyone inside the establishment. Repeated/continuous VERY loud ringtones, constantly, and not an exaggeration,… CONSTANTLY, AS IN - for about 15 minutes while we were dining. Newly seated customer’s were seated near us some minutes later, and the gentleman had to actually say something out loud, then to his/our server. Thank goodness!!!!
The server, (family/mngmt/?), then went and mentioned to the staff member/members something about it, (members, as in - the one being addressed had someone sitting with her, (which we LOVE this other person), Went on to continue to say things loudly about the customer(s), who had said something, to the other staff walking around everywhere! (Wow!),..
We had seen other prior happenings, and have seen her/attitude before, but ignored it - but this was just a wow experience at such a place as Flo’s. Still surprised by it.
We really hope this does not continue in the future, as we absolutely LOVE - all of the food, decor, some staff, the amazing family dinners, celebrations, and my husband and my-date times, that we have experienced here, along with...

Read moreThis is not a Chinese restaurant for anyone with experience of Chinese restaurants, but then it doesn't claim to be. I would call this Asian-inspired. They call it New Asian Cuisine. My bet is that "new" means adjusted over time to meet the palates of the local population. My bet is that Scottsdale doesnt have a huge Asian population. I can see why the local population would grow accustomed to it and enjoy it. Almost like a comfort food.
The good: serving staff was friendly and attentive. I was here for dinner well past the rush and the meal was served fast.
The hot-n-sour soup was choked full of meaty mushrooms and tofu. I enjoyed it.
The chicken katsu was very crispy.
The blah: The chicken katsu was bland but added flavor to the very bland fried rice. the fried rice did have a great mixture and balance of ingredients, but didnt feel like it had been completed-as in cooked together, or... fried. There was no cohesive flavor, just moist white rice with veggies.
The hot-n-sour soup was served warm, not hot.
The dining room is loud and even at 8:30 at night it felt full despite only 8 or 9 tables. Male voices from a table on the other side of the room felt like they were sitting next to me.
The annoying: the "chinese fortune cookie" was so stale it...
