Thank you for reminding me of my days spent in Sicily! My brother and I stopped into this little slice (pardon the pun) of Heaven, we were greeted by the owner who advised she would be right with us. It was our first time, and after reviewing the great selections of pies at the restaurant, we decided to sit down. (It was appropriately spaced for the COVID 19 requirements.) After we had noticed from other diners how large the portions were, we ordered. We each got a salad (with amazing homemade dressings) and split a penne pasta with Bolognese meat sauce. Since we couldn't decide, we asked to add on meatballs, just because they looked delicious! The salad was so large I could not finish it. In the nick of time the garlic knots arrived which allowed me to dip those little knots of heaven into my homemade balsamic dressing; what a treat! They should really patent those things. Fair warning, if you are dining with someone, EVERYONE must eat the garlic knots for obvious reasons! When the pasta arrived, we were provided with a meal not enjoyed since a quiet night in Catania, Sicily! Perfectly spiced, seasoned and cooked just like many years ago! Between the salads, garlic knots and split main course, we still had a doggie bag to take home. When asked if we had room for dessert and noticing the cannoli's, we decided to take one home. They serve pizza by the slice as well as whole pies in addition to other menu items. I tried the Supreme Pizza and had them warm it up for me in their ovens and it was spectacular. This is the best thing crust pizza I have had in quite a long time. Lorenzo's is a great alternative to places like Lou Malnatti's which serves Chicago style deep-dish, thick-crust pizza. This is quite the opposite. The pizza is thin crust and the whole pies is thinner than most magazines. The slices are delicious and are served in large slices which is a good value for the more than $4/slice price you will pay. Honestly if you have some time and you want to taste an authentic, Brooklyn, NY style Pizza without traveling to the Southernost Burrough and the East Coast then look to Lorenzo's Pizza to fulfill your craving. For those of you who have never been to NY or have been to the Big Apple, but have not been to BK or have not had their pizza then I would highly recommend Lorenzo's Pizza so you can experience a true NY pie without having to travel all the way to New York City. If you're content with entrees that are just average in taste and below average in presentation you would be very comfortable with being a cook at Lorenzo's Why not strive to exceed expectations it takes just a little caring and minimal effort I am not talking about pizza but rather the dinner entrees take the shrimp scampi a very simple staple in any Italian kitchen it was served to me with hardly any garlic/butter sauce no salt no pepper no hint of lemon and to top it off no fresh chopped parsley to garnish the completed dish why?? No hint of any white wine either because the cook doesn't care and the owner /management is AWOL I know it's just a local pizza joint but if you're offering entrees do it right otherwise stick to the pizza I was spoiled when Mr L owned the place especially his daughter was attentive to the way entrees were cooked and presented I complained about my white clam sauce tonight to the server no one from management spoke to me I would rate my entree tonight a 6 but with just a little extra effort and caring it could easily be an 8 I will still be coming to lorenzos and I hope someone in management will take this...
