For a set price you can go with a certain amount quantity and quality. Too bad this new Italian place chose the former. Happened to walk in on their opening night. First noticed 4 hostesses for a place that needs no more than 2. The ambience inside is nice. The tables are nicely situated, not too close and not too far. Lightning was very nice. I asked my server for a cup of hot water, what she brought was a cup of cold water with ice. I had to repeat myself. Ordered a cup of minestrone, arrived within 2 minutes. Quite a large size. It could pass for a bowl in Italy. Too hot, deeply hot like being overheated in a commercial microwave. Only a slightly tangy tomato taste, not enough salt or taste of the vegetables. ordered the calamari, arrived within 3 minutes. 30 to 40% larger portion than I expected. The grill charred lemon was completely cold, even on the chars, taken out of a fridge. The calamari itself cooked but not crispy, and overly hot in temperature, like from an industrial microwave. The batter was bland and starchy, completely killing what little flavor there was. was approached by a random lady who how it is and I was honest that it had no taste. Was asked if I want to speak to a manager, to which I replied "no" (why would I want to speak to a manager, when your car has a problem you speak to a mechanic, not the sales person - when your food is not good you speak to the cook, not a manager). my server approached with the same taste question and I again told it was bland and asked for eggplant parmigiana was approached by what apparently looked like a manager (though there was no introduction of any kind), was asked the same question about the food and replied again that it is bland and the cause is the batter/breading my server brought me the check. Had to ask for the eggplant parmigiana again eggplant parmigiana arrived way too fast, no more than 4 minutes, and you guessed it - a portion that can feed two adults and a small child, too hot, low in taste. The pasta was too aldente even though it was hot. The eggplant was cooked but still not enough to release the taste. The breading around the eggplant slices was again starchy and robbing the taste, though it was definitely better. The tomato sauce was concentrated and not tasty. Again, all the signs of something cooked or finished in a commercial microwave oven. the price for the eggplant parmigiana was the same as if I buy 3 pieces from the ready cold food counter at the grocery store, the amount was the same and sadly the taste was the same. there is definitely value in this place, just not sure what the proprietors were aiming for. Maybe they just over-prepared for their opening night and instead of cooking the fish from scratch in 40 minutes they took a cooked dish from the freezer and reheated it in 4, so they could serve a larger amount of customers, so I'll try them once again. Until then, if you want better quantity for about the same cost, there are other options nearby. If you are very hungry and want s lot of...
Read moreWe've been coming here since the day they opened. Celebrated many milestones here. Ordered takeout constantly during Covid and gave MONSTROUS tips in support of the staff hanging on during that time. Yes we have noticed that portion sizes have diminished and service has become dicey but we know times are tough. We're here in support of all restaurant workers. True last visit we were shut out of our reservation because some large group came in and they gave away our table. Ok we squeezed into a very uncomfortable situation for our group of a birthday party of 9 and moved on with no apology or compensation for our discomfort. Fine it happens. It was unpleasant but we love this place so we made no issue. Fast forward tonight for our surprise birthday party of 10. We arrive and all group tables for our reservation are unavailable and they squeeze us into the bar. We have a weeks old reservation and 10 people with very large gifts and no room at the inn. After 40 minutes we finally are seated because we've apparently been bumped by a group of prom girls (will they really make more money from prom girls than 10 60 yr old surprise birthday dinner party goers??) (and of course prom girls deserve a great night out too!) Then while moving us to our table the staff drops and breaks a birthday gift bottle of wine which proceeds to flood the floor with all the other gifts - mostly bedding and comforter and pillows now soaked in wine. Horrifying. They apologize and clean up the glass and mop the floor but the gifts are all still soaked. The birthday girl is completely embarrassed and the staff says we will be compensated so we all try to move on and enjoy the evening. The poor waitress who was assigned to our table now has no idea of what has happened before she arrived and she tries her best to keep us happy. The party continues and all do their best to make the birthday girl enjoy a nice evening. Time for the bill. The juvenile "manager " comes to the table and says he'll give the birthday girl a bottle of wine to compensate for the one they broke. He has no idea what that wine was or what it cost the gift giver, but this is his solution. Super. When pushed for some possible further compensation for this whole disaster he says, "no this is my compensation for your evening and this is all you're getting" (his exact tone!) He gets belligerent when we are shocked by this response. When asked for his name he was too afraid to tell us. (BTW his name is Nick). Well Nick, we have supported you and your restaurant through all of these years and tough times. Our check tonight was hefty - we've gladly paid many of those hefty checks over these years. Your decision to dismiss us has insulted us all. Sure it's only 10 of us who will no longer visit your establishment. But we're not prom girls. We have lots of friends with money and...
Read moreThis is a nice place to take a date.
I stopped by on a whim after another restaurant didn't work out due to tough parking situation. The parking was somewhat tough here as well but better overall. I arrived shortly after lunch, around 1pm mark on Friday (5/2/2025).
They have many seating options available, tall chairs, booths, tables, half booth-half tables, varied layout. There is also a very large covered-ish outdoor seating area. The décor is sophisticated modern with a dimly lit atmosphere, very cozy and comfortable feeling. This is the type of place where you'd want to reserve a table for the evening if you plan on going out to eat during a popular hour.
They have an excellent wine collection, I'd say moderate to some high end options available. I didn't have any alcohol, just the Ravioli ($22) and a Coca-Cola ($3.75). The ravioli was perfect, I'm not sure on the sauce but it was delicious, the cheese was also perfect - tasted great. Great portion size, great price for the quality of food presented and consumed.
I'm usually the least dressed down patron wherever I go, most people here were dressed a minimum of business casual to casual fine dining level. It was laid back but higher class.
On an evening in this place, some might use the words, magical, special, romantic, to describe what they're feeling. That's what I imagine anyways. Good vibes all around,...
