Dock Mike’s was an experience. We ate breakfast there yesterday after trying some other eateries in the area— they’re menu looked interesting and had more breakfast options. We arrived around 8:30 and asked to be seated outside. (Cash only btw) The hostess was sweet. When we got outside there was a giant (closed) umbrella taking over much of the table space & so when we sat down across from each other we couldn’t see faces. We had a bit of difficulty getting the umbrella open ourselves and had to ask for help. No big deal. Then seconds after sitting we were asked if we were ready to order. We asked for two waters and a couple of minutes. We were informed that they could not bring us our waters until they took our food order. Then we were informed they’re only serving bottled water ($2/pop). Our waitress was efficient I guess, but curt. She was not friendly but she did her job & checked on us. I ordered the avocado eggs Benedict and my friend ordered an omelet. Food looked good and was brought out very quickly, which was a plus. However we had to ask for utensils. And then I had to go inside and ask for salt and pepper. Took about 5 mins while I watched 5 waiters stand around as we were the only ones eating outside and there was one couple eating inside. The food was good! Which I was hoping for as the price point on the menu was very high. $14 pancakes. $3.50 upcharge if you want real maple syrup. Another couple sat down outside and had such a hard time with their umbrella that they finally asked a waitress to take it away.
Our total bill (w/ tip) was $45 for 2 waters and 2 egg based breakfasts.
You have to bring your ticket and your cash inside to pay. We went inside to pay, the women (not the young hostess) taking the money took her mask down as we approached the register, coughed in her hand, and then grabbed our cash. She asked if everything was ok and we said “yeah it was ok.” She didn’t say anything else — no thank you, have a nice day etc.
Finally, I used the restroom before I left and they were both very dirty, smelly, and the trash cans were overflowing at 9am— obviously they had not been cleaned that day or the night before.
I reiterate that both meals were well cooked and brought out quickly, but I will not be back here due to the terrible service and very high prices. (An extra $3.5 to add home fries to an omelet? It should just come with it!) Ive had better meals on the island for better prices and definitely...
Read moreAwful, awful experience! We drove 45 minutes to get to Dock Mike’s to celebrate our daughter’s birthday. With the exception of one other table, we were the only customers in the place. There were 4 of us and we ordered 1 pancake, 1 waffle, 1 omelette and another egg dish. After 30 minutes of waiting our server comes out of the kitchen with the omelette, makes it halfway to our table and then turns around and takes the plate back to the kitchen where it stayed for another 5 minutes. Server then brings the plate out and a few minutes later brings out the 2nd order which was wrong. Then she brings the 3rd order which was also wrong. We politely ask our server what the problem was with our orders and she couldn’t say, so we asked to speak to the person in charge. This man comes walking aggressively out of the kitchen to our table and without introducing himself, gruffly asks “what’s the problem.” Eventually, when asked who he was, he claimed to be the owner. He was rude, defensive, he argued with us and put 100% of the blame on our young server, threatening to fire her! (Poor girl was in tears). He offered no apology or compensation only excuses and an attitude, so we got up and left. We went to the Ugly Mug in Cape May where we had a wonderful meal and fantastic service!
Dock Mike’s delivered terrible service and greatly overpriced food btw, which we never got to taste and never will. We recommend people stay away and eat somewhere else. I don’t understand how an owner with such horrible customer relations and terrible service could still be in business. BTW, another negative, it’s...
Read moreSuper disappointed. I went here with my friend for what we thought was going to be an amazing breakfast based on their website and menu. Boy were we disappointed. I'm giving 2 stars because the food was ok, but I don't have much good to say about everything else. We got two breakfasts. Chicken & waffles was what we were really looking forward to and that was a big disappointment. One small piece of overcooked chicken on top of a waffle that basically looked like an eggo. It wasn't even heated all the way. 16.00!!! If you wanted "real" syrup you have to pay 3.00 extra. The other "meal" was an egg and Swiss omelet. Comes with toast. We asked if we could get multi grain panini toast in place of the toast that came with it. We didn't mind the upcharge because that's what we wanted. Well, they didn't upcharge us, they charged us full price for that toast. 2.75 for ONE piece!!! And we didn't get the toast that came with the 14.00 egg omelet! Next was our home fries. We got the bacon, cheese whiz and onion. 8.50 for a dessert sized plate of what seemed like the end of a potato. There was barely any bacon in it. Coffee was 3.00 PER CUP, no refills, served in a paper cup. We got to eat off of real dishes but had to drink from a paper cup. Water is usually free at most places, and I love a nice lemon with a glass of ice for my water. Not here. 2.00 for a bottle of water. I was afraid to ask for a paper cup for fear they might have charged me for it. 49.00 before tip. Needless to say we will not be going...
