We were seated pretty quickly and given our drinks quickly but otherwise, it was incredibly slow, and not only due to a backed up kitchen. When taking our food order after us waiting for nearly 25 minutes, our waitress used that time to also vent about her other wait-staff-coworkers. We were then later asked “has anyone checked on you” occasionally, and only after someone else had checked on us not 30 seconds beforehand, showing a clear lack of communication. We waited another hour (maybe a bit less) for our food despite the place only being about a third full of patrons by the time our order was taken. Then, a completely different waitress tried to give one of our patty’s food to another table. After being corrected, she brought it to us and asked if we needed another plate to split the meal, not realizing that another meal was missing. We told her we were also waiting on another meal, and she actually accused us of placing it on a different order, which was certainly not the case. Another 20 minutes go by and we finally get the other meal. Both were fine, nothing to write home about, definitely not worth waiting around. We asked for our check pretty quickly and were given a completely different check. After that was remedied (meaning we had to hunt someone down to try and fix it since the waitstaff were sort of hanging out in the back), we were given sheepish excuses with no real solution…we were the only people outside at that point and obviously had nothing close to what was on the other check. It was also a different excuse than we heard which was given to another couple visibly upset about the wait-they we’re there longer than us. You’d think the waitress delivering the check would notice that after reviewing it and setting it down. We watched multiple families enter and exit throughout our meal and watched couples finish whole meals before we even got our food. If you can’t handle having tables outside (perhaps that was the problem), please don’t do it. I want to be clear to any reading this that we were very kind throughout the whole experience as both of us have worked waiting jobs before, but at a certain point, it was incredibly hard to be understanding. Very disappointed after seeing the other great reviews, but unfortunately that just was not...
Read moreSTEER CLEAR OF THIS RESTAURANT IMPOSSIBLE FIASCO. We have eaten breakfast here for a few years, whenever we visit Seabrook. It was a funny little place, the owner stood behind a little stand at the entrance and never talked to anyone but the waitresses were friendly, food was pretty good and quickly served. The place was always busy. We returned last week to find a totally different look to the place and were told that Robert Irvine had been there for Restaurant Impossible, that the episode would probably air in April. We looked over the menu, which looked much improved. When we arrived two tables were finishing their breakfast. Besides the two of us, one other person came in while we were there. We sat up front and ordered eggs benedict (which we had really enjoyed on previous visits). After 15 minutes the phone rang, someone ordered steak breakfast tacos to go. That person arrived 5 minutes later and picked up the order. We still sat waiting for our food. The owner stood behind the new breakfast bar, hiding behind the wooden pelican and reading his paper. Not a word to the customers, as usual. Finally after 25 MINUTES, our food arrived- sad english muffins with a slice of ham topped by a rubber hard poached egg and barely lukewarm hollandaise sauce. Served on a white plate all by itself. Our server stated there had been confusion in the kitchen, and asked if would we like hash browns or french fries with our eggs! The food was inedible and we didn't have time to wait another 25 minutes so left HUNGRY. If the kitchen can't handle 3 breakfast orders there is no hope for the place. The owner had mysteriously disappeared around this time- The old restaurant wasn't pretty but it did deliver a good fast breakfast. We will...
Read moreI knew this place back when it was "Fred's". The last time I went in I called ahead and ordered breakfast. When I got there not only was my order NOT ready but I stood at the counter for over five minutes with servers looking right past me. I finally walked out - I was on my way to work - and called the owner who apologized. I hadn't been back since. Heard they got a Food Network revamp and went back today for lunch.
The remodel went nicely, the decor is much brighter. The menu is no longer one page, I was impressed. But the servers are still cold in their demeanor. You get the sense that this place is for locals only, and by "locals" I mean those within walking distance. I ordered the Cilantro Chicken Salad and a house salad. My companion ordered the Grilled Snapper and chose asparagus and mashed potatoes as sides. The Chicken Salad was flavorful, the bread toasted until very crispy. According to my companion the Snapper had a good flavor as well, though there was a BIG problem with the asparagus.
In an attempt at "presentation" the asparagus was fanned out and hanging over the side of the plate. When she set it down, the server brushed against the metal condiment basket on the table. After she left my companion immediately broke off all the tips of the asparagus that had touched it. VERY unsanitary. Later, after we had paid the check my companion mentioned the issue to the server, who said she had "noticed it had touched" and was "so sorry". Unfortunately, her attitude said she didn't really care at all: and if she had noticed, why not bring another plate of uncontaminated asparagus?
Even though the food was not bad, it is unlikely that I will ever eat there again. Let the "locals" keep the...
