You can tell the chef or owner has a steakhouse background, but is going for a more laid back feel. It’s more gastrobar than pub and maybe not steakhouse enough, but their cocktails sure keep them classic.
The detailing outside on the railing is a nice touch to go along with the natural light. The bar is a little to sport bar-ish with the TV and the chair are too classic to be considered a lounge. They have issues with curtains and controlling that natural light sometimes. Clean bathroom and excellent wait staff. Bartenders are the best, making customer drinks and slinging classic cocktails. Though I’ve yet to meet the chef I’ve always been interested in talking about some of their items. Usually chef’s aren’t that busy that they can’t shake a guests hand on request. Maybe they’ll come out next time. Don’t be shy, I don’t bite.
I love the drinks and the HH. Their classic shishito presentation is excellent and though overpriced regularly, is in line during HH. Duck poutine is tasty, thick gravy, but what I liked the most was the duck’s texture, shredded, but then likely cooked on a flat top for some crispiness. Risotto balls are good, but for a rice dish, balled and fried I thought it wasn’t’ worth it. Mac & cheese was excellent, but needed a creamier cheese mix than gruyere, cheddar. Fried pickles go excellent with neat whiskey, like a pickle back, but classier.
The Duroc pork chop is substantial, but the cous cous too light. The ribeye doesn’t say USDA Prime and to be called a steakshouse you need that. I love their liberal use of eggs poached, sunny side on breads, flat breads and entrees. I asked to have a modified hollandaise sauce used instead of salad dressing, I have them some liberty on that. I like their 320 sauce and A1 variation on other items too. Always go crème brulee when it’s available.
They make solid old fashioned’s, manhattan’s. I also like their Army Navy (anything with orgeat). Love the Dutch Kills since it uses genever. They’ll do many things Rickey. The Detroiter is something you should try since it uses stone ipa (an excellent ipa in it’s ownright), I never thought it would pair so well with the apple brandy.
It’s great place for food and dates or just to hang, but a serious...
Read moreTwo roads diverged at 320 Main, and Management took the narrow minded one. Seriously, whoever runs this place needs to go to customer service school. The food is excellent. The drinks are great. The atmosphere is generally a congenial one full of fun and excitement. We've come here about a half dozen times for "big" dinners (groups of people, out of town guests, etc...) and it's a favorite for Moscow Mules (they make their own ginger beer, which is excellent). However, I don't know when I'll be back.
About a week ago, my fiancé and I took my dad here for dinner. He was visiting from out of town, and appreciates a good "Mule." We had been with him before and even tried to get him a 320 Copper Mug, but there were none available. Not even for ready money. I have my own 320 copper cup, but it is in my collection of drinking vessels in another state. We ended up buying out own 100% copper mugs, which we brought with us on this occasion.
When we went to order the Mules, we presented our 3 mugs. The waiter said he would need to check with management whether we could bring a non-320 Main copper mug. We explained to him the above facts, and we went to discuss with the manager. The waiter returned an informed us that they would not allow us to use our own copper mugs for the Moscow Mules, which entitles you to 50% discount to menu price.
I've given this a week to think about, and still have a bad taste in my mouth; something that could have been easily avoided had the manager that night had 2 feet of foresight. Sad that such a good place can be ruined, at least in these three guests minds, over such a small incident. Had it gone the other way, we probably would have sung praises about...
Read moreAbsolutely awful experience. If I could give zero stars, I would without hesitation. My family and I came in hoping to enjoy a nice meal together, but what we got was nearly an hour and a half of waiting, oily, stomach-turning food, and service that made us feel completely invisible. To make things worse, not long after eating, all of our stomachs were burning—and after looking it up, we saw that multiple other reviews have mentioned getting E. coli from this place. That’s extremely concerning.
The host was cold and made snide comments, and the whole atmosphere felt unwelcoming from the start. Our waitress was kind, which we appreciated, but we were only checked on twice the entire time. It took 30 minutes just to get our drinks, and when the food finally came, it was so greasy we could barely eat half of it.
What truly broke my heart was seeing my mom teary-eyed and angered—she felt small and dismissed, like we weren’t supposed to be there. It was upsetting to witness her hold back tears in a place where we should’ve felt relaxed and cared for. Even when the owner walked over, noticing how long we had been sitting there uncomfortable and unhappy, she didn’t offer so much as a “sorry.” No acknowledgment, no effort to make things better—just more cold energy.
We left feeling sick, disappointed, and honestly a bit shaken. I rarely leave reviews, but this experience was deeply disheartening. Between the lack of empathy, the terrible service, and the fact that other guests have reported getting E. coli, I can’t say this loud enough: please be careful...
