The food was good. Going to CPK for years. It's sad to see their locations closing. I don't usually slam service but this visit was horrible. I was given the choice of outdoor seating, said it would be quicker, mildly cold, said they had heaters, I agreed to sit out side, a party of four. Going to our seats I see plenty of spots inside for a party of four. No biggie I agreed, I was just puzzled at the original statement. Sit anywhere you like was an option, I made for the big table as it was well lit, but then prompted to use a smaller table, "you know it's for larger parties". So I guess it's anywhere I like, but fitting to my party size. So I get my self an iced tea. As it arrives, barely any ice, understandable, fresh tea is hot and melts the ice. I ask for a cup of ice. This doesn't come until about after we get our salad. That arrived without our dressing. I remember because we needed, plates, dressing, bread, and my cup of ice. Eventually we get the items, tea with the ice is barely half way as I drank most of it. As the food arrives it's good. But then we are lacking parmesan cheese, a spare ranch dressing, figured to see if we can get another dressing since we were splitting the salad. Great the items eventually arrive, pretty much 3/4 done with the meal. Keep in mind I haven't had a refill yet but as they bring the parm, I ask for a refill. The waitress grabs my daughter's cup I provide my cup and remove the straw, for identification. After more time passes drinks arrive. I notice my ice isn't as plentiful as it was, did it melt again? Then I hear my daughter say, "hey where's my straw"... WTF. She filled the cups wrong. Argh. At this point I'm peeved. Upon leaving Togo boxes are given, I'm asking for a last refill to go and the check has been asked. We wait and wait. We took 2 cars, my wife suggest I leave so i split. Later I'm told by my wife they basically forgot about them. She had to go inside and ask to pay. The waitress frantically comes inside to report that... Oh there you are..."I didn't forget" as my wife relays the story. In this day and age going out to eat is definitely an expensive luxury and treat. If you provide shit service it's probably going to be awhile before we go back. I've been to CPK often to know this is an anomaly, usually get great service but sadly have to cross this location off the list. Maybe wait in line for Mama's or Hoffs Hut. If anybody suggests this...
Read moreCalifornia Pizza Kitchen when it first started it was a concept executed without blemishes. Individual fresh made pizzas with, at the time, were truly innovative ingredients. There were many to choose from, among them a very tasty Duck pizza, it was truly an Avant Garde type of place, there was a lot of traffic, the place always crowded, as if people had recognized and embraced the innovative cuisine. Of course, everyone and their cousin in the pizza business started taking notice, and now we have the so called high end pizzeria, which most are a joke served in a fine table and a sure high tab. We stopped at this CPK (the cool abbreviation they try to promote), 3 of us, and had the following dishes: Fish Tacos 11.79: who would order fish tacos at this kind of place? Apparently one of us did and did not like it, someone else end up eating these two tacos. Panko-crusted Mahi Mahi (barely any), shredded cabbage and house made ranchito sauce. Served with chips, a very so so salsa.2 Stars. Jamaican Jerk Chicken $13.59. This one is described as Spicy sweet Caribbean sauce, authentic Jamaican spices, Nueske's applewood smoked bacon, red onions and bell pepper. Eater finish this creation in two stages. One at the table, the other half at home next day. 3 Stars. The Meat Cravers $14.59. Describe as Macho pizza loaded with Italian Sausage (loaded meaning a total of 4 pieces), pepperoni, applewood smoked ham, spicy Capicola ham and salami. Let me say that there were more open spaces that I though were possible in a pizza, so loaded is baloney, most meat average and extra salty, a sad pizza. 2.5 Stars. Server very cordial, coffee continuously cold. Price for everything over $50 plus gratuity. Still people will roll in and out, you can stop consumer frenzy and all the...
Read moreHasn't been the same place for a while now. Especially after Covid, like a lot of other places. But we still were coming here every so often. After, tonight, we probably won't anymore. We were a party of 5 and we first noticed that other people were coming in after us and getting seated but did notice they were parties of 4 or less. Ok, that was probably it, although you could readily see tables of 5-6 open. Anyway, we let it go. When we were seated, we were taken two different height tables put together and rectangle in shape. We had an elderly friend of ours with us and we wanted all to be able to hear and speak with each other. So we're standing between this table and a round 5 person table that was much nicer and since it's round we could all speak and look at each other. I asked can we just sit here instead. She went back to the kitchen and came back and said no. Literally the table right next to our table and she said no. We just looked at each other and still didn't make anything of it and had our dinner. Next thing you know, about 10 minutes later, it's given to someone else. That was not cool. At this point we're pissed but still didn't say anything. On the way out, our elderly guest, on her own, caught the manager at the front desk and told her. To get credit the manager said that should of never happened. Not a good experience I have to say. Don't think we'll be back. Lots of other choices...
