Above all do not let Kylie serve you! If you want a server who will scream at your mother then she is your girl! I am appalled by the way her mistreatment of customers and she should be fired immediately.
I came here tonight hoping for a nice dinner with my family and what we got was nothing close. The problem began when the power went out, an understandable dilemma which was not the server's fault. Instead of being honest about the fact that the electricity in the kitchen was having problems, our server tried to pass off cold food that was undercooked (including meat) which is clearly both unsanitary and dangerous.
I then approached the bar to ask to speak to a manager. A server/ foreman named Kylie made it impossible for us to speak to the manager. Instead of kindly explaining that the he/ she? (wouldn't know thanks to Kylie) was busy she began barking at us for making such a request. When we asked to speak to the manager she replied, "about what?" in a harsh tone and continuously asked us if we really wanted to wait for the manager. I finally asked her why she was speaking to us in such a condescending way and asked her not to speak to my mother in such a disrespectful tone. The conversation only escalated from there. She went on to tell me that I was lucky that she did not cuss me out. I was utterly shocked and informed her that I did not feel a bit lucky considering I usually do not go into restaurants expecting to be violated in such a way.
This experience at O'Malley's was without a doubt the worst dining experience I have ever had. I am disgusted not only as a customer but as a server with years in the industry. I am outraged by the way Kylie spoke to my older relatives as if they were second class citizens and a waste of her time. The entire issue was none of her business. Unless O'Malley's supports their employees yelling at older customers (or any customers for that matter) Kylie needs to be fired immediately.
I would not recommend O'Malley's to anyone for any occasion. Both the bar and the restaurant are dysfunctional and...
Read moreOne of THE most unfortunate experiences in my Life! The WORST experience in any type of restaurant I have ever faced! 4 of us arrived 11am Sunday morning. Not many patrons in the restaurant at that time, we were Seated immediately, when our Waitress arrived she told us "it will take a li'l longer to get served than normal". Given the number in the restaurant we didn't think anything of her statement. Little did we know it was a precursor of things to come. After a while she took our drink orders: water, OJ and coffee. It began to take so long we asked for bread, an appetizer something to hold us over; which she provided however she should have offered. Literally at 12 Noon over an hour we received 3 of the 4 plates ordered. Nothing fancy Omelet, Huevos Rancheros etc. The family at the adjacent table (arrived mins prior to us) literally went up to the Kitchen several times to get the same Half Table served. We all looked at each other remarked amongst ourselves throught the whole ordeal. All the while wondering if Cameras would be revealed. We thought we were getting Punk'd. In fact it was real. All the while our Waitress was "MIA" when we did Flag her down to beg for a coffe refill or more water she was Snippy, unpleasant and downright rude. We finally received our Final meal (at least they all were Hot) that's why I even gave 1 Star!!! This was HORRENDOUS and a Grandmother with our Group offered the Tip: "$0.00". Is there anyway to give ZERO Stars? This place deserves it... we will never return again! No explanation to why the slow pathetic service. The perfunctory obligatory "Thanks for coming, sorry for the delays" was ALL that was offered! We tried everything, except walking out to get some kind of information, to no avail. Nothing else...
Read moreComing from New York out to California left me nostalgic for things I grew up with, one of those being Irish Bars.
O'Malley's hits the mark. They have a yearly countdown clock for St. Patricks day. Humorous signs through out demonstrate typical Irish humor with "On this day in 1982 nothing memorable happened" and "If you came to drink to forget, please pay first"
Fireplace in the dining room makes for a warm environment to chase off a winter chill in the ocean air, and windows that open completely lets in the warm summer breezes and creates an open air feel for the front of the bar.
Back patio with a water fountain is a good place if you want a little more quiet.
Main bar has a 'sports bar' with a Cheers kind of feel to it. Long bar with plenty of seating and high tops. Decent selection of craft beers and domestics, though not going to be and double dank barrel aged stuff here.
Some great food selections, Shepard Pie and some traditional Irish dishes are well represented. Nachos to die for, seriously, the plate is so large it can kill a person.
Reason for 4 stars was attrocious service on St. Patricks day. After waiting 20-30 mins in line to get in, a waitress litterally spilled a drink down my girlfriends back to which my girlfriend shouted after her "Thanks for spilling on me" as she was running away with drinks, to only have her return to the bar and while passing shouted "You're welcome" to my girlfriend. Seriously?? Not the kind of help I would want working in my bar. Manager did the best he could given the rowdy environment. Server came over with an in-sincere apology.
I would avoid the place on St. Patricks day, or get there early and leave early. By 9 pm there were more stumblers in the bar than...
