They have a La Marzocco espresso station, so, their investment pays dividends there. This biz shares space with the mid-day to sunset Ben & Jerry's, so, great business model: sharing space. This is in the old Starbucks, with a bus stop right in front. Short menu, even though w/ photos it runs 20' long. I got the Westside Waffle (GF $11.99 +2fruit toppings) that gets a whack of whipped cream, corn syrup & butter packets, made as fresh as anything. Not very crispy, but delicately so. The interior is incredibly fluffy, not soaked through by the generous dollop of 'whipped cream.' Bonus fruit addition (blueberries and banana for me). Service items are all compostable... well, not sure about the drink lids. My wife had an egg & cheese breakfast sandwich and a latte. A beautiful wheat grass image in the foam, nice latte. She thought the egg was cooked to perfection. This being said, we were the first customers in. So, during busy times, your results and mileage may vary. Within 30 minutes, the 4 tops, individual seats by the fireplace, and a few front window counter stools are fairly well taken. i.e. it got busy on a Friday morning by 7:42a. There seemed to be plenty staff, and a Manager hanging around for the busier times. Several families showed, and most folks sat and ate vs. hit and run to the bus. Note: King Co. Metro frowns on eating while on board. Views of Puget Sound, Alki. Ave. is just past the sidewalk here. Parking can be a bear, and fewer options for bike racks than...
Read moreI live close by and was hoping for a great place to meet with others, along with tasty food. I do like the location! I like how it has Ben & Jerry’s in the same space!
My first visit was during the opening week. I was so excited for the granola parfait, until I got it. After watching the fluid dumped off the tub of yogurt then the granola (that looked like uncooked oatmeal flakes) added I was becoming less interested. It was the worst yogurt parfait I’ve ever had.
The next time, I walked down with a friend for a beverage. I ordered black tea (and asked twice if it was black). It was not a good flavor, it was a fruity black tea and not good. It tasted like water with a hint of some unidentifiable fruit.
Tried again, hoping that third time might be the charm, but not exactly. I ordered an açaí bowl, custom ordered with peanut butter which was stuck on the lid, not sure why it had a lid when we weren’t getting it to go. It was ok, not offensive, but won’t order it again.
It makes me disappointed that a place this close to my residence isn’t better. If there was regular black tea, it would make my walk to the...
Read moreI was excited to try this place based on the pre-opening buzz about their "special" banana bread. On opening day, it lived up to the hype—freshly sliced to order, moist, flavorful, and packed with chocolate chips. Unfortunately, my recent visit was a letdown. The banana bread was pre-sliced (which is fine), but it was dry, bland, and had only a few chocolate chips sprinkled on top, none inside.
The coffee is decent but not memorable. On the plus side, I appreciate their healthier options, like the Puget Parfait (yogurt, fruit, and granola). I’ve ordered it three times with the same selections, but each time, the portion sizes of the ingredients varied. It’s still tasty since the ingredients are good, but consistency is lacking.
I’m hopeful things will improve with time. However, if the original banana bread doesn’t make a comeback, I won’t be...
