It was a hot and sunny day. Our house sweltered under the afternoon sun. In the distance (down the hall), a child (my child) cried with hunger pangs. We knew we had to act fast. So we sought out GrubHub. We wrestled over the phone deciding who would have what and sorting out customizations. We faced the threat of hanger with each passing second. We hit order, and waited. My husbands eyes looking wide at the sight of the impending delivery. My cheeks sunken at the sight of the wait time. Then, what’s this? An update on our delivery and it was cancelled. “Cancel this,” I said with his finger to the sky. My husband, pulling me back to reality, calmly suggested we go to the neighborhood spot, The Americano.

As a family of three, we made the light and lovely trek downhill toward the restaurant. Turning onto Thorndyke it appeared like an Oasis from starvation.

We ordered and nary a word was said before our long-awaited meal was ready. The restaurant staff, buoyant and friendly, appeared like a Disney Prince with the promise of needs fulfilled. It was a glorious moment as the sun went down and we knew all would be right with the world, starting right then.

Epilogue: the Cuban Sandwich had great bread and loads of lovely onions the BLTA had amazing sourdough, perfect avocado, and the fries were the perfect width. Good ranch too! -chicken and...

Yum, yum and more yum! Don't miss out on visiting this little gem! So glad my brother and I went there. The food was delicious and where else can you get fish n chips with a salad and onion rings to boot! Awesome. All kinds of sauces to mix up your own concoction as well, and for the price, it just doesn't get any better people. Go see for yourself. It's worth the drive. Now Marvin, our server, was right on top of things. Great service, attitude and honest. He accidentally overcharged my bill but came running to me with cash in hand. Go figure...what a sweet heart. This place ROCKS!!! There's outside table service, a big bathroom, it's wheelchair accessible and plenty of parking. They even offer up a little Greek flair. The Fetta garlic topped fries smelled out of this world! I was stuffed leaving there and promise, we'll be back! My hats off to Costa Antonipoulos and the cooks. This place reminds me of "Cheers" where everybody knows your name. Five...

Admittedly I was disappointed. The marker of a burger place is if they can nail a staple: double cheeseburger and fries. the fries were absolute perfection. classic, golden, crispy, hot, perfectly salted. 10 out of 10. The burger was the big heartbreaker. The meat was just....there. Seemed like frozen discs thrown on a grill top (maybe?). Kind of rubbery almost. The toppings and bun were spot on. The cheese was okay, a bit gummy. It was just good enough to keep eating and the fries really kept me in the game but there are just so many great classic burger spots in town I was bummed that on my solo burger outing I picked this place, knowing there were so many other places I know that nail it every time. I suspect there are other items on the menu that they excel with. The outdoor seating was great, the bathrooms were...

Took a random chance on this burger joint and I was absolutely blown away by how delicious the food was! I got the Bleu Cheese Burger and it easily ranked as the top two burgers I've ever had!! The burger had fresh veggies, crispy bacon, perfectly grilled onions, and it was built wider instead of super tall - which any serious burger lover will tell you is a game changer!! The fries were perfect too, and the chocolate milkshake really helped it all go down extra smooth. The atmosphere was very chill, relaxing and low key. It seemed a lot of workers and every day folks were popping in, and we had our 5 year old who got to run around their outdoor patio. I would highly suggest this spot for food, as well as families whose kids might not quite be mannered yet for upscale restaurants :) 12/10 would recommend and return here!!

My grandmother and I really enjoyed this quaint diner on the eastern edge of Magnolia. Run by an El Salvadoran woman, Americano serves a range of burgers, salads, sandwiches, and breakfast items. I really enjoyed the habanero burger! The habanero sauce they spread on the bottom bun was quite tasty. The price is right here, and the portions are good too. Service is on point and the wait is not too long. It might not be fine-dining or avant garde, but this is a good, down-to-earth comfort food. I recommend Americano wholeheartedly when you’re in Queen Anne or Magnolia.
