Fantastic diner style quality breakfast. This is probably the best diner food I've had in my life. I ordered the Eggs Benedict with a biscuit instead of an English muffin, and fries instead of hash browns.
The fries were crispy, fresh (no old oil taste), super hot and salted to perfection. I didn't even touch the ketchup. The biscuit was perfectly soft and moist, the egg had a really rich tasting, bright yellow yolk, the hollandaise sauce and ham pulled it all together.
My bestie had this incredible French toast swimming in butter. (I had to taste it, this is how I know.) The bread from the French toast was still fluffy and light so you know it wasn't just sitting somewhere sipping in butter for awhile.
He also order this waffle topped with whipped butter. It was slightly crispy on the edges but mostly soft comfort in your mouth.
On top of it all, the service was incredible. Our server greeted us with this warm, genuine (smiling with eyes) smile. She checked on us consistently and made sure we were enjoying ourselves.
Overall this place is a winner. The food, service and scenery was ideal for a rainy,...
Read moreWe have a weekend breakfast at the Bay Cafe several times each year. the food is good, portions are generous and service is also good.
This time we shared the oyster omelette, $15.00. The oysters tasted really strong. Maybe it was me or they might have been old. My wife had to extract small bits of shell from her mouth. There was a tasty sauce, maybe a Bearnaise with melted cheddar on top of the omelette. The hash browns were perfect, not greasy. the whole grain toast was really delicious.
It's good coffee, but like a mild breakfast blend. In Seattle you kind of expect a darker roast, but no complaints. the waitress really was attentive to keeping our cups full. There were plenty of bussers helping the servers, too.
My wife had a side of two pieces of French toast, $6.00. It was delicious.
ONe of our favorite features is walking along the marina after breakfast. since we grew up in landlocked locations, it's always a pleasure to experience the nautical setting.
We will go back and we do highly recommend the Bay Cafe. Diners include grandparents and kids, couple and singles sitting at...
Read moreThe Bay Cafe is a throw back to an old style dinner. I do not mean that it's decor is a throw back, even though it could be brought up to date, the menu is a from a time gone by. Which in my opinion is a good thing. They serve up comfort food that we all need from time to time. They do have a large menu that serves food from waffles to steak. I had the Swiss melt, which is basically a patty melt. Now, this is what I use as a Litmus test for a restaurant that has them on the menu. It is a fairly simple grilled sandwich which many places don't do well. It is an after thought on the menu because they have the ingredients to make it already. This one falls into the just OK category. The onions did not have much flavor and the burger was bland. I do have to say the onions were grilled well. Cooked, but still a little crisp. All together it made for an OK sandwich. We also had Country Benedict. That was a lot of food on that plate. We only ate half of it and was full. The only thing the gravy needed a little salt and pepper. All in all it was a good meal with nice staff and...
