Our first visit to the Fisherman's Terminal Appasionato(we have now been back and the review is much the same). A great location, not the best espresso but we'll be back and try again.
Espresso: We each had espresso drinks (a latte and an Americano) and the drinks were decent with a smooth bitter taste upfront and an darker roasted bitter after finish. Definitely not sour but bitter for sure. We were surprised at the drinks because they come highly recommend. Perhaps the drip coffee is more smooth. We plan to try that next.
We will try them again and report back.
Ambiance: The place has a 90s coffee shop vibe that I sort of dig as authentically fabulous. Seeing the roasting room is always fun. Unfortunately it was filthy, and not the coffee dust filthy, the hasn't been deep cleaned in forever filthy. We were there bright and early, and our table was very dirty.
Staff: The staff were sweet and friendly. They were maybe under staffed as they were busy and the two gals appeared stressed.
Watching them tamp and pour the espresso shots, the bartistas did not appear confident. This is not the spot for latte art.
Food: They had a large selection of delicious looking house made pastries and ready-made sandwiches. We enjoyed a delicious raspberry scone.
Again this is review based on one experience with two people who deeply love espresso, espresso drink preparation, and coffee culture. We will again return and...
Read moreStopped in for a latte. Coffee was strong and good. Nice building and dining room with a nice window wall for viewing the roasting process. The building had some nice seating areas and a beautiful piano. The exterior needs some clearning and paint and general maintenance, but still very cool. Always great seeing the owner, Phil volunteering at St Demetrios Greek Festival every year, serving up his great coffee all weekend. Was a pleasure to finally see his roasting facility and tasting room. I live about 25 miles from there, so not nearby that often but was an easy and very enjoyable outing.
Really enjoyed my visit there and to Seattle Fisherman's Terminal practically next door. Good walk around there looking at the Fisherman's Memorial and all the interesting boats. Nice lunch at Fisherman's Terminal's Chinook restaurant, followed by a short drive past another favorite... Mike's Chili and to The Ballard Locks and old downtown Ballard. It's all close by and a reminder of all that's good...
Read moreFirst off, I'll admit I'm a coffee snob, and by that I mean I'll take what I can get (like Starbucks) if there isn't anything better, but I do like high quality (illy's, Raven's Brew, Pegasus, etc.) I've had Caffé Appassionato coffee before at small vendors and it's not my favorite. The coffee is smooth, but had no particular flavor and is a super light roast. But I'm in the area for a class and this was the only coffee place in walking distance between the class and the hotel that opened early enough (class starts at 7:30am!). So, the coffee gets about 2 stars in my opinion. They do have a good selection of non-dairy milks. The service was 5 stars, very friendly and very quick. The atmosphere is 5 stars, love the heavy wood chairs and tables because they have better back support and don't wobble around like the cheap metal stuff. I especially like the window into the roasting machine area and the outdoor patio with the...
