This location was our go-to coffee shop back in the day when we lived in the Gatewood neighborhood in West Seattle. We always loved the coffee and enjoyed walking down the hill for a cup of local Joe. Our daughter was 1 year old when we lived there. My daughter just turned 21. So, it's been 20 years or so since I have walked into this particular Ladro. We waited in line for-e-ver. And it wasn't because they were crazy busy. The two person duo working the counter just didn't seem to be managing the work flow all that well, nor did they seem very aware of the line building and the people's time they were not valuing. We almost just turned around and walked out after the first 15 minutes waiting. The coffee is great though (not necessarily my all time fav anymore like it once was). I just think the service was lacking in a...

Great service but the coffee drinks I ordered were not good. I brought my daughter in for a hot chocolate holiday treat and I got a peppermint mocha. The mocha tasted neither like peppermint nor chocolate and my daughter’s drink was nothing more than off-flavored warm milk. I had to go back to ask them to add more chocolate and they said that the “new recipe” calls for the amount they put in there. If that’s the case, I have no idea why Ladro is skimping on the flavors. Word of advice, if someone wants a flavored drink, make it flavorful. I brought my daughter there for a special treat and spent $8 for 2 small drinks and it was far from a memorable experience. Thumbs down! I’m all for supporting the smaller local neighborhood coffee shops, but at least with Starbucks you know you’re going to...

I popped in here to work for a few hours one Saturday afternoon. They had some great-looking seasonal drinks and pastries, but I'm a plain latte kind of guy. They have excellent quality espresso, so I have no doubt you can go wrong with any drink on their menu based on that. I had their artichoke and goat cheese quiche, which was quite tasty, quite cheesy, and quite satisfying.. 8 out of 10 for me. I also had their pumpkin bread. The fall spices and pumpkin flavor came through well and it was nice and moist.. 9 out of 10. They have a decent amount of sitting room inside with outlets and WiFi, and I believe they also have a patio out back. It was quiet and comfy, and I'd be happy to come back next time...

Really bad matcha latte - heavy on milk with barely any matcha taste (just look at the color). The barista said she was just following the cafe's recipe, but offered to change it. On the 2nd attempt, she said I could let her know whether to top up more matcha. It was still bad unfortunately, but by that time, I couldn't be bothered to change anymore. Is making matcha latte really that hard to do, especially when there are so many cafes they can benchmark with? Chocolate croissant was also bready in texture rather than buttery and flaky. The good thing however is that pastries are 50% off 2 hours before closing time. I wouldn't be coming back here though.

"A West Seattle neighborhood favorite" Someone said that this is typical hipster cafe and I beg to differ. This place has been serving great coffee way before West Seattle transitioned to a hipster joint. This is my go to work spot as the coffee is good, strong and consistent. Staff is always friendly and welcoming at all times. I would occasionally encounter noisy patrons but nothing a noise canceling headphones can fix. This is one of the neighborhood gems that still gives you the small town vibes and they need to stay for a very long time.
