If I could give the service 10 stars, I would, especially Aaron. She was refreshingly friendly, helpful, accommodating and efficient! How often do you hug your server when you leave? We loved her.
We ordered inside because we weren’t sure if we liked anything on the menu. They had some samples of some of their fresh baked breads- the almond croissant was great, the banana bread was awesome, and the bacon cheddar chive (I think) was wonderful.
We ordered the roasted cauliflower because we had dinner reservations and didn’t want anything big. I didn’t realize (I should have asked) that it would be covered in a type of gravy. If I had known (or maybe going forward they could ask), I would get the gravy separate. The gravy was great, but I try to eat healthy and would never put gravy on roasted cauliflower. If you don’t care, leave it on! The cauliflower was roasted perfectly.
After we ordered, they gave us a number stand and we picked a table outside. There was water already on each table so you didn’t have to ask! Aaron was our server. She let us know it was happy hour and recommended the Darkalino Spritzer, so we ordered one. It was really good. It was sweet, but not so sweet you can hardly drink it. My husband who doesn’t like sweet drinks liked it, so we both liked it which isn’t often! The cauliflower gravy/sauce was so good that my husband needed bread to sop up the remaining sauce after we ate the cauliflower. The focaccia bread was thick and warm and just as you would want it - and 6 pieces.
It was a perfect place for a small bite...

The HANDMADE pastas from @darkalinos were 🔥🤤🤌🏽🍝
We had amazing AND affordable Italian dishes from Darkalino’s in Pioneer Square.
Our favorites were the perfect al dente ragú and pomodoro pastas, Caesar salad, burrata, mortadella sandwich (made with their in house focaccia bread) and the chiffon cake topped with candied Buddha’s hand and earl grey tea. 🤯
The restaurant is located in a super cool mixed use space. It’s a restaurant, apparel boutique, bar, café, workspace, and social club all in one. It’s such a unique concept and we’re so glad it exists in Seattle. Here you can purchase Seattle @h.o.m.e.t.e.a.m gear.
They also offer #happyhour daily from 2-5p (all pasta dishes are $5 off!) and weekend specials including carbonara pasta. 😋
Definitely save post this to your list of places to dine in Seattle. We can’t...
Read moreMy friends and I visited Darkalino’s during the Pioneer Square Jazz Festival. While we expected it to be busy — especially with a live band playing inside — we were shocked by the level of rudeness from the staff.
When we asked a simple question about the sauce, the waiter scoffed at us. One of us ordered a lemonade and received the same dismissive attitude. Later, when I asked for extra plates so we could share dishes, our server mocked me word-for-word before reluctantly bringing the plates and silverware.
The food didn’t make up for the experience either — one dish came out with undercooked pasta, and the portions were very small for a $20 entrée. At the end of the meal, we asked for the total and the receipt, but were never even told what the full amount came to.
Overall, it was an uncomfortable and disappointing experience. We wanted to enjoy the atmosphere, but the service made it hard to enjoy...
