BEST GYRO'S IN THE AREA!!! First and foremost their prices are reasonable for Seattle especially with the amount of food you are given. For example, I ordered a beef and lamb Greek salad and was able to make two meals out of it. Second they are on top of their to go order management. I have never had to wait for my order unlike other places and have been to this establishment multiple times at various hours. Next their fries are moderately seasoned and it appears made to order, they are not just sitting in a basket or a seasoning bowl like they have at other restaurants. Lastly, which was saved for last is there Gyro.... I have tried every "Gyro" in the West Seattle area(as well as other places in the city and other states) and this one is the closest to being Greek. If you have been to Greece you would know the difference, but for "traditional Greek" in the US this is the go to place. They have the Gyro Cone slow roasting on a proper spit unlike other "Greek" places that use pre-formed single sliced pieces from Costco(I know this because I bought the same kind in disappointment once). The veggies are crisp and fresh(the tomatoes are meh but its winter), and the Tzatziki is yogurt based with a decent amount of dill as one would expect. The one thing though that really sets Gyros on Alki aside from their competitors is that they add pepperoncini's and Kalamata olives which really brighten up the sandwich and give a nice punch to wake up the taste buds. Overall its been a 5 out of 5 each time I have been here and this will be my go to spot when I have a craving for a Gyro. Give it a try you...
Read moreIt's our lovely, lazy weekend routine to get coffee & breakfast at Gyros on Alki. My husband gets the breakfast gyro & I eat this scrumptious chocolate pastry, which I highly recommend. Ned makes these pastries by hand & they are out of this world! But, unfortunately they weren't selling fast enough before they would go bad (bc they're handmade, of actual, real ingredients), so he thought they would need to discontinue make them! I was devastated (for real- they're that good!) & we suggested/begged Ned to at least make them on the weekends, which he actually agreed to try. Now we buy 2 chocolate pastries on Saturdays & 3 on Sundays (1 for each us + 1 extra for me to have for Monday's breakfast). Oooooh! And, did I mention the Baklava?! It is the best that I have ever had (which really is saying a lot, hahaha!♡). Sadina (Ned's wife) makes it from scratch every few days, & she does something special & absolutely marvelous because she makes the Baklava with pistachios + lots of love (seriously, you can taste the love! And, those pistachios are...
Read moreWe recently visited this place. Inside, the atmosphere is pleasant — cozy enough to sit down and enjoy a meal. However, when it comes to the food, I personally didn’t order anything because I had no appetite, but my husband and our friends did. They ordered two beef gyros and some fries. The fries were fine, but the beef gyros were honestly terrible.
Let me explain why. I have very high standards for food — I am from another country, I’ve been to Greece, and I know what real gyros taste like. What they serve here as “beef” is a joke — it’s like some strange mix between a patty and a sausage, completely flavorless and unpleasant. My husband, who usually loves to eat, couldn’t even finish it simply because it was that bad. The tzatziki sauce also could have been fresher, brighter, and tastier.
Overall, the food is very mediocre. For me, it’s one star for the food, and I’m adding one more star just for the atmosphere. Definitely would not come back, and $19 for a gyro like this is ridiculous. Honestly, do you even eat the...
