1/5 star experience. I’ve been to Loxsmith twice now. I live 30 minutes from this location. Customer service is 1/5 both times I’ve been there. And they’re pricy for what is given. First go around - Loxsmith on a garlic bagel. Bagel sandwiches come untoasted unless you put in special notes. No biggie. But I had a garlic bagel, and the garlic was burnt. I LOVE garlic bagels, but I’m unsure as to why on an untoasted bagel, the garlic tastes burnt. Other than this, it was an ok sandwich. Lox, capers and dill all tasted fresh. Presentation is good. Decided to give this a second go. Wanted to get a different sandwich. At 10am I placed a pick up order for 11:30. They texted my bagel was ready, but I was told five more minutes. In this time, many others picked up their bagels. A walk up customer got a bagel with lox in this time. I kept being told to wait. Mind you, it’s pouring rain. The guy gives me my bagels 25 minutes after my pickup time/text that it’s ready - no bag. All these other pickup orders get picked up all nicely packaged, and the dude gives me my bagels late, unbagged, in pouring rain. Extremely frustrated with this experience and the lack of communication. Why didn’t they tell me they lost my order instead of jerking me around and making me wait in the rain for 30 minutes?? The bagels the 2nd go around do not reflect the wait time given my scheduled pick up order or the price. Given cheap/tough cuts and a sloppy bagel. Do not waste your money at this location. I love a lox bagel, and will go far out of my way for a good one. This was not worth the drive, the wait, or the money.

We tried Loxsmith Bagel for the first time this past weekend. Verdict: The bagels were so so good, so we are even more excited for their permanent Beacon Hill location to open. In the meantime, run, don’t walk to grab their bagels from their Bagel Bodega. We got two sandos: 1) B.E.C. on the egg everything and 2) Loxsmith with two modifications: sub everything bagel for the nori sesame and sub the listed smoked salmon options for the pastrami lox. I saw their Instagram post about pastrami lox on Saturday morning, and I had to get it. Oh my, the Loxsmith was just perfection! I am still dreaming about that sando. Why, you ask? Because the ratio and presentation of each component was thoughtful and intentional - no capers falling out, or red onion overpowering a single bite.

I *REALLY* wanted this to be good. It’s so close to me, and I love bagels. I was so excited to get it home (everything bagel $3, scallion schmear $3, and red onion $.75). Was gonna doll it up with capers at home since I’m right around the corner. I opened it up to find the saddest schmear in the universe. Even after spreading it around to balance the singular small glop in the center, it wasn’t enough to go to the edges, and where it did, it barely did. THAT IS NOT A SCHMEAR. Four thin slices of red onion per bagel. I am sorely disappointed. My partners looked slightly better, but only enough for a very thin coat after spreading it around. I won’t be back. This made me really sad.

I am posting this review after ordering from them three times. The first was back when they offered delivery and everything was ok. The second one was on Mother’s Day during which they were super late delivering the order, the address on the app was wrong, and there was no indication on where to pickup stuff. The last one was on Father’s Day when the app allowed me to order from the delridge location at 8:15 only to be told by the owner of the shop next door (who was clearly fed up with it and rightly so) that we needed to pickup at beacon hill . I called on the phone to verify what was going on and here is my main issue: mistakes happen, especially with technology but the owner made no effort to be nice or apologetic about it. The workers at the delridge kitchen had no idea what was going on(they could have at least be informed so they could tell people where to go or put up a sign on the window) . The owner on the phone was mostly rude as if it was my fault that he was being inconvenienced. Once we got to the shop there was a line and our order was not ready but still the owner offered no apologies, no explanation. Nothing. Customer service is terrible mostly because of the rudeness of the owner both with the delays on Mother’s Day and on Father’s Day. The bagels aren’t bad but not...

It’s a real shame when great food get let down by bad / sloppy service. I really want to support local places, but stuff like this makes it difficult.

Multiple times (online at first) so then I tried in person that I’ve ordered my bagels toasted (an explicit option they provide online) and my order has been messed up. I recently went in person rather than order in advance even though you have to wait a little longer I though better safe than sorry, stated toasted, got a receipt, saw it said toasted on it, and then when my order was ready, I got back to my car and realized they were cold, and I went back and said “have these been toasted?” and the server said “oh you wanted them toasted, sure”.. they were the person that took / entered my order and marked them as toasted. I then had to wait another 5 mins for my order...
