I think this is a great cafe! It's locally owned, the food is great quality, and the prices are reasonable; especially considering that they have gourmet-style dishes and coffee. The ambiance is also good, it's comfortable with several seating options: patio, bar, low tables, high tables, and some additional cozy spaces. It's also not super loud, so you can have a conversation. The staff is always nice and although the line to order can be long at times (especially for weekend brunches) they do their best to be quick.
I recently had the Brussels sprouts, roasted mushroom toast (which I got on a sliced sweet potato instead of on bread), and the muhammara dip, all of which were great. The Brussels sprouts were well done but flavorful and not dry. The sweet potato "toast" had well-balanced flavors and some greens as well, which I appreciated. The muhammara dip was bright and tangy, with a lively flavor that kind of smacked me in the mouth lol. After the crudite ran out and there was extra dip, I ended up putting some on the toast. The sweet potato really grounded the flavor and I will definitely do that again the next time I have those dishes. But those are just a few of their dishes, they have several great gluten-free and vegetarian options as well as some meat options.
The only downside besides the occasional long line to order is that the door to the patio sometimes stays open and it can let some cold air in. But it's only an issue if you're sitting close to the door and most tables are not situated that way. So still worthy of five stars...
Read moreI decided to give this place five stars and update my review. I would definitely recommend this place. I visited today, I got the Cortado coffee. The quality of the Coffee is much much improved. If you are not satisfied for the first time,I would highly recommend for a one star complaint. It is highly recommended to tell Henri (the owner) what’s wrong. Also, when I visited last time May 7, they did not have the brownies and the cashier was not friendly last time. However, when I gave this place one star review and complaint to the owner, Henri was super nice and friendly. He connected me to one of the operation manager Tim and they refunded me the money. They also gave me the gift card ($20).when I visited today, the service was much much improved. The cashier was friendly. The coffee taste is much much improved. It did not taste sour. Last time, the Cortado coffee tasted sour. I used my $20 gift card. Last time, I gave this place one star because they did not have hot and fresh pastries. However, today, they had the hot brownies. This is exactly what I was expected today. The pastry that I got was fresh and hot.The service is much better. My advice to you all: don’t just give up and say the owner does not respond to my email. I am sure he will respond to your emails and take care of your complaints professionally. I saw one people gave up and said that the owner did not respond. Don’t always hesitate to contact the owner. A special thanks to Tim and Henri for supporting my complaint and refunding me 100% of the money and gave me the...
Read morePros: Many places to sit, both indoors and outdoors. The bar/cafe has outdoor seating both in the front and back.
Plenty of working electrical outlets to work on your laptop.
Tables were spaced far enough apart.
Personable, charming staff. (The tall fellow is an asset.)
Meals and beverages are served in containers, even when dining in. This is good for cleanliness and disposability.
When customers left, the seating area was promptly sanitized. Also, public places were frequently wiped (rails, etc.).
To improve: It was freezing. Fans were on and both the front and back patio doors were open, so airflow was more than abundant as it was an overcast, moderately breezy day. I dress in layers and even I was cold. Sometimes eating establishments do this to have good customer turnover - no table hogs here.
I ordered a caramel latte. It was so-so. Probably more along the lines of an authentic Italian latte/macchiato, but Starbucks has most likely ruined American palettes.
Small portion size. The “small” beverage was tiny. Don’t think you’re going to get a small/tall in Starbucks language. This was more of a kids size to me. Starbucks has people spoiled. I didn’t knock a star off for that small portion size, however. What I did knock a star off was for the lamb meatball entree and I only got six meatballs. The menu should have led with salad and flatbread and added “with meatballs” for transparency, but that’s just my thinking. I would like to try more menu items. This was my first Mr....
