I WAS SERVED WATER IN A CRACKED GLASS AND INGESTED GLASS SHARDS WHICH CUT MY TONGUE, GOT STUCK IN MY THROAT, AND MAKE ME SICK.
RESTAURANT HAS NOT RESPONDED, MANAGER HAS NOT CALLED, OWNER HAS NOT CALLED. THEY WOULD NOT GIVE ME THE CONTACT INFORMATION FOR EITHER. THEY ADMITTED KNOWING THEIR WATER GLASSES HAVE THIS PROBLEM AND THAT THEY FREQUENTLY RUN OUT WHEN BUSY AND TAKE HOT GLASSES FROM THE DISHWASHER AND PUT ICE AND WATER STRAIGHT IN THEM AND THAT AT TIMES THE GLASSES CRACK ON THE WAY TO THE TABLE.
REPORTED TO POISON CONTROL IMMEDIATELY FOLLOWING INCIDENT. THIS WILL BE REPORTED TO THE HEALTH DEPARTMENT ON MONDAY.
-Here's the full story-
We went out to eat at Eureka! restaurant in University Village around 7:50 pm on 2/22/2019.
I was served a glass of water in a glass that was cracked on both sides, I didn't see it when they served it as there was ice in the glass. I felt weird pain on my tongue like it was getting cut while eating and at first thought it was something spicy in one of the dips I was eating with my fries and finally realized I was drinking small pieces of glass when I pulled one out of my tongue. I went to the bathroom immediately and started spitting blood into the sink.
The manager who spoke with me when I was spitting out blood in the bathroom sink said that they sometimes got really busy and used glasses that were super hot and had just come out of the dishwasher to put cold water and ice in and that as they took these out to the tables they would sometimes crack on the way to the table. He told me he personally had experienced this. I asked him why in the world they would be still serving out of glasses like this and that if I was the manager or owner I would have trashed ALL the glasses and had them replaced and changed procedures if I knew this was happening. He wanted to look at my tongue with his cell phone flashlight and said it didn't look too bad and I would probably be fine. Seriously!? To describe the manager: I believe he was wearing a black and red checkered shirt with sleeves rolled up, he had a man bun.
When I came back to the table, he had taken the glass away which is a horrible thing if you need to determine how much glass was ingested by looking at what remains of the broken object.
I was given a business card with the real manager's name and a phone number. After we left I immediately called and the phone number connected me to the same restaurant where we had just eaten. I asked the girl for the main owner's name, number, and phone number. She said they didn't give out that information but connected me to the same guy that had spoken to me before. He told me they didn't give out the owner's name and phone number but that he could take mine and that someone would contact me.
After this, I called poison control to report what had happened.
I will be calling the Washington State Health Department on Monday.
When I got home I still was finding shards of glass in my tongue. I took a picture of one and then placed it in a ziplock bag with information and dated it.
I AM EXTREMELY UPSET THAT NO ONE HAS CALLED ME TO DEAL WITH THIS SITUATION. IF YOU ARE THE OWNER OF THIS RESTAURANT I DEMAND A RESPONSE AS SOON AS POSSIBLE. I HAVE PHOTOS OF THE...
Read moreLast time me and my partner went here, we experienced some of the worst customer service we've ever gotten. Our assumption was that because we were students, the waiters thought we wouldn't tip though we typically tip 20%-60% since we're customer service workers ourselves and understand the struggle.
Our experience: We were seated inside and realized that outside was sheltered and heated, so we asked if it would be okay to move outside instead. The girl said she'll get back to us then never came again. No big deal, maybe she forgot.
We were seated next to a device the waiters used for table seating, so there was constant traffic next to use while eating and they kept kicking our bags even with them tucked under the empty seat next to me. When I went to the bathroom and came back, I saw a couple of waiters using the machine next to our belongings and one of them was stepping on our bag UNDER our table. I had to grab our stuff and huddle over it to make sure they didn't keep kicking it around.
Our water was never refilled so I had to drink out of my water bottle. And, besides one kind waitress, the waiters never stopped by to check up on us besides giving our order, seating us, and giving the check. The guy that served our food said nothing and when the food came, rudely dropped the food on our table without looking at us or saying a word after we thanked him. When I walked by him to use the bathroom, he rudely walked past me without saying excuse me. He just stood there staring over my head waiting for me to get past the small corridor leading to the bathroom that was being blocked by a customer and his kid along with a worker talking to them.
If it wasn't for the one waitress, this might've been our first time not tipping, but one lady was really kind to us, so we left a small tip. Food was good, but portions are a little small for the price, and if I'm not mistaken, we both noticed the portions getting smaller since the last few times we've come by this place.
Besides ONE worker, it seemed like the entire staff was rude, and my partner and I were just baffled how the store operated. If you're a student, just expect to be treated a little less than the...
Read moreI flew into Seattle, to visit my daughter. Who is a junior at UW . So we decided to have dinner at this establishment. When we first walked in there was no host . First red flag! Finally, a young woman who was bartender said hello and asked one of her coworkers to help seat us . They did not. Finally, she had to ask her manager to greet us . And we were seated . My daughter said that she and her sorority sisters come here often . And that the food and service is always spot on. So I was very excited. The bartender/ server greeted us and gave us menus. Never said her name. And we proceeded to order. For starters we ordered fried pickles and nachos. My daughter ordered a strawberry lemonade and I ordered coke zero and water . While we were waiting for our apps. Our drinks came. The coke zero was flat ! So I asked the server for another. She asked her coworker to see if he could see if there were an issue with the carbonation and he did not. Instead, he insisted that there was no issue. And didn't understand what the problem was. Young white guy with dread locks . She brought me another. It was flat ! So she took off the bill . Then we go our food . The fried pickles were decent. The nachos were below average. I had ordered an bbq bacon cheese burger with fries and my daughter ordered a grilled cheese with tomato soup . The burger was a disappointment! It was luke warm, the fries were cold. The onion straws cold . And to top it off . There was no BBQ sauce on the burger. The cheese on my daughter's sandwich was barely melted. I asked her how is it. And said she it fine . I am a professional chef by trade . What's really disappointing about this experience is that your establishment was bo even busy . It was extremely slow. Maybe 7 people in the entire restaurant. It was unacceptable ! Certainly, one of the worst dining experiences I've had as a professional and customer. The next time I come to Seattle. I will not be...
