I rarely ever write a negative review but it's necessary for our experience. I had picked up my adult daughter from the airport on May 6th at around 7 pm, it was dinner time but was not a very busy evening, especially the section we were seated in outside. We happened upon this restaurant and it looked like a pleasant little place, so we thought we would try it. The hostess was great but we were seated at a table practically outside the restaurant at the servers door on the patio. No big deal, but you would think sitting near where the servers come in and out they would pay more attention. That was not the case. First, we had to ask for our sever multiple times to order our drinks, then multiple times to order starters we also had to ask to order our main course and we had a different person every time. We asked for a side of bread that we never received, even though we saw other tables get multiple servings of the bread basket. It was unusual because the back patio section we were in had a femal server with the 4 tables that had been seated, but she was not on our table (the only one out there that wasn't hers) so we kept needing to ask her for our own server to come for items like napkins, utensils, sugar for my iced tea, plates for the appetizers and then also an extra plate because we were sharing our main course. She was clearly unhappy with a table that was not hers needing her service and did not walk past us for the rest of the time we were there, so we kept having to flag her down which was slightly embarrassing every time, especially because she didn't say anything to us she would just plop down what he asked for and walk off, it was not pleasant. We then had to ask for our bill twice which we paid but did not leave a tip because no one deserved our additional money. We were very unhappy with our experience and will never be returning again. It was a pricey meal of average food with nothing but a bad experience received in return and will be reminiscing about our terrible meal for many...
Read moreThis is my first time writing a Google review. After placing an order online today, I received the order confirmation. About 10 minutes later, I checked the order status and received a message from the restaurant with the pickup time. That’s when I realized I had ordered from the wrong location—I’m in Seattle, but I accidentally placed my order at the San Antonio store. I can’t believe I made such a mistake!
I immediately called the restaurant to request a cancellation, and the manager, Jacob, handled the situation. He told me that he could transfer my order to the Seattle store so I could pick it up there. I really appreciate his help—this was such a great solution!
When I arrived at the Seattle store, the manager there was also very nice! I felt really bad for causing trouble for both stores, but their service was truly excellent. They handled the issue quickly and efficiently. I sincerely apologize for the inconvenience my mistake caused them.
After picking up my order, I missed a call from Jacob, but he left a voicemail letting me know that my food was ready for pickup. He followed up on the entire process from start to finish—he was truly responsible and dedicated!
Unfortunately, I forgot to ask for the name of the manager at the Seattle store, but she was very beautiful and had such a warm and welcoming presence. I’m really grateful for the help and understanding from both managers—they are highly capable and professional. Thank you so much!
Also, I hope others won’t make the same mistake I did—double-check your order location! It can cause unnecessary trouble and extra work...
Read moreFantastic limited menu that includes many unique Italian offerings that aren’t common in Italian restaurants in the area. Their lasagna which comes with impossible meat by default is some of the best lasagna me and my partner have ever had, and I’m not even vegetarian. The staff are long-standing and delightful. The interior is refined and it is in a nice location.
Why did I write it three stars? Simple, instead of raising the prices to keep up with the demand and pay everybody fairly, they have a surprise 5% surcharge added to the bill at the end of the meal. This practice is scummy. It leaves a bad taste in my mouth that a good meal can’t fix. We loved our waitress immensely. She is fantastic and caring. But the surcharge does not make me want to keep coming back. Especially in conjunction with the expectation of a tip which is already a historically underhanded way of meeting employee pay expectations.
As long as it remains a surprise, it will be a little bit before Piatti feels the effects, and they might not even see to attribute it to this decision. But I guarantee, the damage to the relationship between them and their customers will be felt in time and will be greater than any kind of cost saving that they got from raising their prices in such an underhanded way.
I will return for the food and the service, but only once every 10 times I would’ve made the choice to eat here before. Considering my bill was $200, that’s roughly an $1800 loss of business per cycle (though that does include my...
