I've been coming here for the past decade and generally the food is great. Usually 5 stars every time, but on this occasion I ordered my usual favorite grilled short ribs (4 strips, 3 bones per strip which ends up being about 12 pieces per order). Current price is $20. We live in inflationary times so I totally understand. It's still worth it to me. However, I got home with my takeout order to discover there were only 9 pieces this time (equivalent to 3 strips). That's a 25% reduction in portion size for the same price.
I called the restaurant to confirm how many pieces usually come with an order of grilled short ribs. The lady said, "4 strips, there are 3 bones per strip so about 12 pieces." I told her that's what I thought too but I only received 9 pieces (3 strips) this time. She said, "Hold on, let me ask the kitchen." She then came back to the phone to tell me that it's only 3 strips and that she's sorry about the confusion. No mention of any recent reductions in portion size. No other explanation. Just a simple, "Sorry about that." That was the end of the call.
This was a very unsatisfying customer experience. First off, because I don't believe them that portion sizes have been cut from 4 strips to 3 strips across the board for everyone. I've been ordering these short ribs for years and I feel like this was a one-off incident where the cooks may have miscounted and just didn't want to acknowledge that they shortchanged me. If this platform allowed for profanity, I'd probably use some curse words here to clearly crystalize how unsatisfied I am. But I'll just leave it at this. I think the grilled short ribs taste great. If it wasn't one of the more expensive items on the menu, I probably wouldn't care that much. But it happens to be my favorite thing here and a 25% reduction in portion size while keeping the price at $20 without any kind of heads up notice is very upsetting to me. That's why I took 15 minutes out of my evening to write this review. Happy St....
Read moreI never seen such unprofessional service in my life I mean I understand it’s an Asian restaurant so level service shouldn’t be that great but I was there last Saturday which we had a gathering to eat every time we were super nice asking the waitress or waiter there face was not happy they even slam drinks on the table which I thought it was super “RUDE”, maybe these guys were international students that need to work but still my bill was roughly about $800.00 that night which we still tip even though the service was a 1 star , I usually come here many times to support the shop , but not anymore I’m going to find another restaurant. The reason why I’m writing this review it’s not that I dislike the place ,but because we spent a round $800.00 which we should at least not get drinks slam on the table or one of the waitress went up to our table and said you can’t do this you can’t do that , yes i understand it was busy but have some professionalism and at least good customer service, I feel like most of them need some work on working with customer’s under pressure and on serving the customer’s , so remember to think twice before you drop a lot of money on this place , question is : will I get good service or will I get drinks throw on the table under pressure , One more thing the food there is going down hill food portions is super small compared to few years back . All in all , I feel like every time I come there is a new owner, I really hope the owner will be able to share this with the workers and advise next time please don’t show unhappy face to the customers under pressure even though it’s super busy customers keep your...
Read moreRainier Restaurant is one of those spots where the menu tells you exactly what it’s about: comforting Vietnamese plates that locals know and love. It’s straightforward, affordable, and full of flavor.
The Cơm Bò Lúc Lắc (Shaking Beef with Fried Rice) ($15) is the star—tender beef cubes seared with just enough char, paired with fried rice that soaks up all the juices. If you’re a pork lover, the Cơm Tấm Sườn Bì Chả (Broken Rice with Grilled Pork Chop, Shredded Pork, and Egg Cake) ($15) covers all the bases in one plate, complete with that smoky, backyard-grill flavor.
The Cơm Rainier Special ($15) lives up to the name: a loaded rice plate with grilled pork chop, fried egg, lettuce, cucumber, tomato, and a side of fish sauce that ties everything together. It’s the kind of combo that hits every craving at once.
For noodle fans, the Hủ Tiếu (Seafood Noodle Soup) ($15) comes steaming, fragrant, and filled with shrimp, squid, and pork—briny but balanced. Or go big with the Bún Bò Huế (Spicy Beef & Pork Noodle Soup) ($15), a broth with lemongrass depth and a kick of chili that’ll warm you through.
It’s not fancy, but Rainier doesn’t need to be. It’s hearty, fast, and built for regulars who want a reliable Vietnamese meal at lunch or dinner.
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Rainier Restaurant might not top “Best of Seattle” lists, but if you’re craving Cơm Tấm, Lúc Lắc, or a steaming hot bowl of noodles, it’s a...
