I’ve been coming here for the last 2 months.. every Wednesday for their open mic, amazing beer, and top notch food! The vibe and energy is always welcoming. As a performer, the sound guys Brandon, And Isaac are dope- they know their stuff and able to adjust the sound to a level you’d experience at a live concert. The talent that show up on Wednesday nights is something that should be experienced. I was blown away by majority of the performers that show up and rock out! This is Always inspiring.. As a Beatboxer, sound guys can be difficult, but here they’re always willing to change it to your sound preference on queue. Sound is key! And they have it! Their beer. Their beer is magic, they always switch the beers up every week.. always a new flavor to try out.. i recommend the peach IPA if it’s ever on menu. The food.. I made the mistake once of eating before coming here. The food smelled so good.. but I had to wait til next week to order— which I did— i ordered a Seattle Cheesesteak and it was delicious! The right amount of spice.. bread, vegetable, and meat ratio were on point! Get their churros- always order.. the Brined chicken is pretty good, the Veggie pattie burger was magic.. I don’t know what sorcery is done in the kitchen, but I’m always leaving satisfied, full, and happy. Nate the owner holds down the Skylark Cafe and attends to all his customers, always smiling and asking how you’re doing, busy guy! Thanks for giving musicians a space for us to perform! Matt, the proprietor, cures his own bacon and it is unbelievable. Seasoned with a perfect blend that isn't too spicy, isn't too sweet, and isn't too smokey. On top of that, it's cooked perfection, so you'll want to double up on your sandwich. The BLT is also toasted on the inside of the bread. Game changer.
Recommend the fries or tater tots as a compliment. And my buddy eating the brisket was loving it as well (Matt smoked as well). Oh, the hand breaded and fried chicken for the chicken salad is juicy, flavorful, and literally dissolves in your mouth. Pork pastrami is amazing.
Let me be clear... Matt is a meat genius. You can't beat Matt's meat, though you can meat Matt.

Read moreI generally like this place. The drinks are decent, they have interesting events, staff is pretty friendly, and the smoked chicken wings are addictive. The fried chicken tenders, however, have a weird burnt taste and texture to them imo. I would def go with a smoked meat item before any of the deep fried ones. Also I used to be in love with a tofu cheese steak sandwich they used to make it was sooo good! I'd order one to eat there and a second to-go for later. It really hurt my feelings when they took this one off the menu. Plz bring it back 🥺 Overall I'd recommend giving this place a go tho. It has a cozy hole-in-the-wall sort of feel, but it's probably cleaner and the food is definitely better than places I would consider to be standard dive bars.
