After seeing rave reviews on tiktok we decided to visit this place for my son's 16th birthday while visiting Seattle. We had a larger party of 7 and they sat us in the large table in the back by the alter. We we greeted by an elderly man who had the area set up for us and told us that someone would come and take our order shortly. After about 15 mins of browsing the menus we realized in fact no one was coming to take our orders, that we were supposed to go to the counter at the front to order. When we did that we were met with an older woman who took the orders. We had to repeat ourselves several times and make corrections on several things. One of the orders was for potato taquitos for my friend who is a vegetarian. At the end of ordering everything she had me look over the pen pad to check that the order was correct. I looked over it thoroughly and made sure the potato taquitos were listed correctly as well as all other items and alterations. When I paid I clicked "no receipt" not realizing this was a mistake. It took quite awhile to receive our food which I guess was fine. They were somewhat busy for a Thursday evening and we were a larger group. When the food was brought out my friend received her taquitos and took and bite and realized pretty quickly they were chicken and not potato. She had not eaten meat in a over 15 years, so this was very upsetting for her. We grabbed a server immediately and let them know of the issue and they apologized and went to the kitchen to have them remade. At this point another middle aged woman who we had seen upfront with the older woman taking orders came out and started telling us the order was chicken and it wasn't their mistake. I confirmed that I looked over everything and in fact ordered potato taquitos not chicken, but I asked for no receipt and it was my word against theirs. They were blaming me for their mistake and my husband was there when I ordered and was my witness. It took them almost 30 mins to replace my friends order with the correct potato taquitos. Quality and flavor wise they weren't even worth the wait to be honest. My pozole was decent, my son enjoyed his burrito, but it was subpar at best. On the way out we explained again to the elderly gentleman how my friend was served meat and he just kind of shrugged and was like, "have a good night." I wasn't trying to get anything for free, but being blamed and them taking no accountability was absolutely insane to me. We spent around $250 for a meal that was maybe worth $100. We went to Alcapulco Fresh Mexican Grill which was a tiny hole in the wall the following day, didn't even spend $100 for the 7 of us and ate better tasting food and received service that was top notch. And they didn't feed my vegetarian friend meat "on accident." So save your money and go to the cheap place I listed. Trust me! We won't be back and have let our friends know of...

The portions are very generous, my usual order is 2 different tacos and they are always overflowing - both with flavor and literally! The tacos are big, too (I usually fill up with just 2) and the food comes out fast regardless, so ordering more is a breeze.
An important litmus test for me at any restaurant is how well they handle simple dishes. Rice & beans is something that SO many Mexican restaurants in Seattle and beyond fall short on. Not La Chingona. Their rice & beans are perfectly cooked and taste so... hearty. It's like the food equivalent of coming home at the end of a long, rainy & cold day and you're finally settling onto your couch with a soft blanket. I would be genuinely happy to have only those rice & beans for dinner every. single. day.
TACOS. There is a reason I almost always get them. So far I have tried: Chingon (beef steak, shrimp, & cheese), carnitas, azteca (grilled cactus & cheese), lengua (beef tongue), and camaronero (grilled shrimp). The chingon taco might be my favorite but azteca is a close second - they're fantastic. The lengua is thick cut, you can see it's truly all beef tongue, and it's so tender. I truly have nothing bad to say about any taco I've had and I would happily order all of them again if the mood struck. I still have more to try, too!!
The salads have a ton of textures and flavors and are oh so satisfying, especially if you're seeking somewhat lighter fare. The enchiladas are delicious, wonderful acidity with the salsa verde that goes amazing with the cheese. The guacamole is creamy & so rich, the chips are thick so they don't break or crumble and they're crisp & crunchy. The horchata is the perfect complement to.. honestly their entire menu? I am hopelessly addicted to it. Churros with ice cream are perfection - another beautifully balanced dish, I wish I could order it every time I go.
I genuinely can't recommend La Chingona highly enough. It should be at the top of your list to try if you...
