My girlfriend and I went to Toshi's after Valentine's for a date we'd been planning for weeks. We ordered the beef and prawns dish, along with teriyaki tofu. Although two of us came in, only one meal was delivery. After ten minutes, I was suspicious, and asked them what had happened to my food. They tried to present the meal ticket instead of reimbursing me with a full meal, and said that I had not paid for a second meal, and tried to charge me for the second dish, even though they had seen two people come in, and clearly misheard our order. Their dishonesty is appalling. Especially towards new customers, who deserved to be reimbursed, not only in a new meal, but with a full refund for a day-after-Valentine's date. The second meal never came, and only one of us was fed, hence no date, and only one plate was delivered, hence only one of us fed. Out of proper customer respect, they should have delivered both meals at once; and since the second meal never came, it should have been free.
The tip of the iceberg, however, is that the staff prepared the meal without gloves, whilst simultaneously eating behind the counter with no gloves. No hands were washed in between, nor were gloves used while preparing or eating, adding insult to injury, along with corrupt business practices.
Not only is this a public health safety hazard, this company is morally bankrupt, and tried to charge us for two meals we ordered, while one was never delivered. Hence, one of us ate, one of us starved. And the date we had planned for weeks over Valentine's never happened.
Although Toshi's saw two of us come in, and duly should have noted they delivered only one meal, they are crooks and swindlers.
I only pity I left a tip ahead, out of decency.
I will never go to this place again, under any circumstances. Not only is it a public health danger, but the company is morally and intellectually bankrupt, and deserves to go under for bankrupt business practices, and exposing innocent to dangerous health hazards.
I do not suggest morally corrupt business practices, much less exposing yourself to health hazards; even less when customers are refused and reparations are never made!
As a result, only one person ate, the date was cancelled, if not nonexistent. Toshi's got away with scamming my girlfriend and me out of money. They exposed us to public health safety. And their establishment is a scam.
Not only shall I never go again, but understand that the rest of my Valentine's money went towards taking out a girl on a date that never happened, while exposing my girlfriend to dangerous, illegally prepared foods, thus making a mark upon our first date. And a second meal that was not only refused, but they tried to scam us using a receipt, just to get a second charge.
I am calling health safety department on as we speak, and I recommend two thumbs down for discriminatory business practices, unsafe and illegal practices, including health hazards, and poor customer service, including toward their new customers, as well as swindling hard-working people like you and I out of hard-earned money.
Two thumbs down.
Way, way down. Adding insult to injury and then twisting the knife never earned any applause.
Goodbye,
Your first and...
Read moreFinally tried this place for the first time today and I’ll definitely be back. I placed an to-go order for the chicken breast / beef combo with fried rice. My order was ready super fast and was exactly how I ordered it. There was a good amount of both chicken and beef. I personally prefer to get the teriyaki sauce on the side, and I was glad to see that both the chicken breast and beef had plenty of flavor and weren’t dry even without sauce on top. Fried rice was good flavor-wise and I’d order it again. Honestly, my favorite part of the meal was (maybe shockingly) the salad. I really like the texture of the shredded cabbage, and the fact that it’s lightly covered in a very light vinegar dressing. It still had a tasty poppyseed dressing on the side, but I barely used it because it had great crunch and flavor as-is. It paired really nicely with the rest of the meal! My order came to about $18, which felt high for teriyaki. That being said, I subbed for fried rice and Seattle is getting increasingly expensive, so maybe that’s just normal these days.
There are a lot of reviews that mention bad service here; I’ll have to see if I have a different experience next time. But at least for this visit, the woman that took my order was friendly and professional, and I had no issues...
Read moreToshi's is a solid 4 star restaurant to go when you want something to hit the spot! I recommend Toshi's for their generous portions, friendly service, and reasonable prices! We have gotten Toshi's Teriyaki take-out twice, recently. Each time we were happy with the service, which was welcoming and friendly. The food is not 5-star, but the portions are generous, satisfying, and seemed prepared when ordered as the food was a good temperature. So far, we have only tried the spicy pork and yakisoba. A couple of things to note about the food: we felt it odd that the yakisoba, while delicious, is served with rice, and to us, more noodles and no rice would make more sense. I appreciated that for the dishes we have tried the teriyaki was provided in separate cups to add as desired (I do not like much sweet, but my partner does). Finally, the "very spicy" was very mild (to me at least). FYI: the menu pictures on Google maps are old and not reflective of the current prices, which are 40%-50% higher depending on...
