I really love uptown espresso! The coffee is always good and typically the customer service is always very amazing so I am leaving 5 stars, but just in case the owners see this I wanted to mention that I went in recently to the magnolia location and the barista was very rude to every customer she helped. Before I even got to the counter she pretty much yelled at me “what can I get you?” And then said “anything else?” In a very annoyed tone when she saw me looking at the pastry case. She spoke to everyone that walked in this way, and everyone seemed to have the same reaction. I know that is a totally fine way to ask people what they want, but nearly yelling in an obviously annoyed voice is not.I work in customer service, I know it’s hard, but all of her customers seemed to be walking on eggshells just to order a simple coffee. Read moreVery disappointed in my service here. The other day I came in to order a drink that was the worst I’ve ever had. I asked the server to remake with additional request to allow the tea to brew before adding milk. Unfortunately the drink still tasted only of hot watery milk so after contemplating just leaving without saying anything I built up the courage to ask for a less expensive drink to replace as I thought it would be less upsetting for him than asking for a refund. I was incredibly kind to the server throughout, apologizing, but did not get the same treatment back. After posting a review of my experience on yelp, the manager quickly posted a comment on my review, with the tone of also blaming me ie I should have asked for a longer steep (which I did), making sure to emphasize that I already got a replacement drink. In looking at other negative reviews I see this same manager is quick to come back with defensive comments. Used to be consistently good, but in recent years the daily availability AND quality of food has gone way down (the egg in the breakfast sandwiches is like eating a hockey puck), the staff is never the same from one time to the next, there's never enough staff, and the prices are just as high if not higher than the two places parked across the intersection, one being a full-service restaurant and the other a Starbucks. I don't want to support the latter, yet this location just doesn't seem to care enough to be competitive.
