ENGLISH: When you think of a classic neighborhood corner restaurant, this is what comes to mind, though it’s not actually on a corner. This is a local staple for the town of Sebastopol. It’s the place where we love to visit to grab a simple meal with friends instead of cleaning up our house for visitors. It’s the place we go when we want catch up with friends but without making a big deal going to a fancy restaurant that has fancy restaurant prices. My wife goes there on a regular schedule with her group of 8 friends.
El Tarasco is a family-owned business that feels that way. The staff is super joyful and helpful and the food is classic Mexican comfort food, fresh as fresh can be. The giant menu has something for everybody. I’m a vegetarian and my friends are omnivores, so this is a place where everybody gets a fresh and delicious meal. And wow, those portions are generous! I don’t know why, but their corn chips taste better than any others in the area. All and all, the experience makes me happy to be dining in this place with fellow humans and good energy in...

The Good -Very tasty food. -Excellent spicing. -Fast
The Not So Good The carnitas were excellent except for the taste of griddle shortening peaking through. The Chile Relleno and beans were also very tasty except for the Chile pepper itself, which I could not cut without getting a sharp knife and took a long time to chew. My guess is that it was frozen and quickly defrosted and sauced. This problem could have been because of the pandemic — no way to tell how many orders of what to expect. Should be a more effective way to defrost a pepper.

Read moreI used to really enjoy eating here. Then 3 times of ordering a vegan burrito and having cheese or sour cream inside I've decided to not eat here again, which is kinda heart breaking. I like the family and all but I have to stop going. The second time it happened, as I was returning my food another person who had the exact same issue was there. He had a food allergy and this is a real serious concern since the dairy could make him ill. Sad that a good restaurant could turn out to become a sub par eatery. Maybe they just stopped caring since they own another spot in Santa Rosa that a lot bigger and is high...
